Anyone who has tried them knows that Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips are one of the most important inventions in human history. I’m not exactly sure what emptying your pores really contributes to your overall appearance (unless you are dating someone with extremely great vision), but jesus does it feel good to inspect them after you’re done and see the forest of blackheads and junk that used to live inside your skin.
The problem is that these are super expensive, especially for something whose biggest draw is more along the lines of OMG LOOK AT WHAT JUST CAME OUT OF ME versus, whoa look at this huge difference in the quality of my skin. So, when I saw a cheap DIY recipe floating around Pinterest, I had to try it.
You only need two things for these, a packet of unflavored Knox Gelatine (4 packets come in a $3 box) and a tablespoon of milk. So cheap!
Mix both things together in a microwave safe bowl and stir thoroughly. It will look grainy:
Microwave for 10 seconds, and be prepared to quickly stir and apply when it comes out. It will look more cohesive:
Apply it to your most blackhead-infested area with a foundation brush or just your fingers. Leave it on for 10 minutes and peel ‘er off.
Let’s get this out of the way — it looks like jizz. Pain is beauty my friend… Just plan ahead and be home alone while you do this. It looks slimy, but once you apply it it sticks and won’t like, drip off or anything.
After about 15 minutes you’ll feel it harden enough to peel off. If it feels wet in some areas, give it a few more minutes. Peeling it off while it’s still wet is messier, and it doesn’t adhere as well to the blackheads.
Here is what it looks like when you peel it off:
If you look closely, you will be rewarded with a fresh catch of lots and lots of strings of dirt and junk that was living inside your face only a few minutes ago! Now you are free. Go forth and be flawless.
