Troma’s New Cannibal Musical To Premiere In March!

'Sweet Meats' looks like 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' meets 'Ed Gein the Musical.'

Troma has been the purveyor of some of the world’s wildest films for over 50 years. The newest maniacal masterpiece from Troma Entertainment is set to make its world premiere in just a few weeks. It is a musical horror comedy about cannibalism, and its title is Sweet Meats.

Sweet Meats is about Bobby Sweet, a country music star and the face of a restaurant that uses a distinctive secret ingredient in its burgers. Take a look at the trailer below.

Sweet Meats was written and directed by Ricky Glore, who also stars as Bobby Sweet. The co-founders of Troma, Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, are executive producers of Sweet Meats. Lloyd Kaufman also makes an on-screen appearance in the film.

Sweet Meats will make its world premiere as part of the Hands Across Tromerica traveling film festival that begins its tour at the Esquire Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 22, 2025. Lloyd Kaufman will be in attendance to introduce the film and to participate in a Q&A session after the screening. Writer/director/star Ricky Glore and cinematographer Nicholas Hiance will join Lloyd on stage before and after the movie.

Hands Across Tromerica is an all-day event lasting from noon to midnight, with five additional films being screened along with Sweet Meats. Those other movies are: Rise of the Super Tromettes, Kill Dolly Kill, #SHAKESPEARESSHITSTORM, Bring on the Damned, and Curse of the Weredeer.

The Sweet Meats premiere takes place at 6:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets just for that screening, or you can buy a pass for the all-day event and see all six Troma films. Here’s all of the information and links you need to attend:
