Popeye the Slayer Man is now streaming!

6 New Horror Films Streaming This Week (March 15-21, 2025)

Popeye, a witch hunt, a music video gone wrong, and more make up this week's new horror movies.

This week’s selection of new horror movies features an eclectic mix of dark psychological thrills and fun slasher gore. Hood Witch might be my personal pick for the most intriguing trailer, but I can’t deny that Popeye the Slayer Man could be dumb enough to be entertaining.

If you’re looking for even more new horror movies, check out our New & Upcoming Horror Movies tracker on Creepy Catalog. It’s updated multiple times a week with links to movies from the past twelve months, plus trailers and dates for tons of upcoming films.

Hood Witch

Hood Witch tells the story of a modern-day witch hunt set in France. Nour (Golshifteh Farahani) makes her living by procuring exotic materials for occult practitioners. She also develops an app to connect occultists with people in need of their services, but when one of those connections goes horribly wrong, Nour is blamed. With the public whipped into a frenzy, Nour goes on the run to save herself and her son from an angry mob.

Popeye the Slayer Man

Popeye the Slayer Man
Popeye the Slayer Man isn’t the first Popeye horror movie release in 2025, and it won’t be the last. Popeye’s Revenge began streaming in February, and Shiver Me Timbers is scheduled for April. (Sorry there’s no trailer here, it’s quite gory.)

Public domain strikes again! The original incarnation of Popeye the Sailor Man entered into the public domain this year, so naturally low-budget horror movies based on Popeye quickly followed. Popeye the Slayer Man follows a group of friends making a documentary about the urban legend of a deadly Sailor Man who is supposed to haunt a local cannery. Gory death ensues.

Revelations

Revelations is from Yeon Sang-ho, director of Train to Busan (2016).

Revelations is a slow-burn psychological thriller about a pastor and a detective, both of who are driven to find a serial kidnapper and exact their own style of justice. The story dives into notions of morality, grief, and even divine purpose through the perspectives of two very different characters.

Wilting Rose

Wilting Rose is the first credited feature film for writer and director Ky Kenyon.

The official description of Wilting Rose describes a story about a woman, Rose (Gabriella Wisdom), reliving the life of her husband through his own words played back on a tape recorder. The trailer gives the impression of a moody psychological descent for Rose, and the mystery of what exactly this entails is intriguing.

Director’s Cut

Director’s Cut features Louis Lombardi (Edgar in 24) as the sinister Mister Director.

A rock band with a complicated history is on the verge of collapse. In an attempt to bring everyone together, they head out to an isolated and abandoned mansion in the woods to shoot a music video. The director promised to shoot the video for free, but everything has a price. Director’s Cut features some fun twists and a good amount of blood.

Revenge of the Boogeyman

Revenge of the Boogeyman is a standalone sequel to Beware the Boogeyman (2024).

Calvin (Calvin Morie McCarthy) needs to get sober and stay sober, so he is taken to a cabin in the woods by a couple of his friends. However, the local legend of a boogeyman makes Calvin’s attempt to get clean a nightmare. Revenge of the Boogeyman is a horror comedy, so don’t expect anything too creepy.
