To state the obvious, Star Wars fandom can be divisive. But there’s one thing most fans can agree on: Andor is amazing.
The first season of Andor came out between September and November of 2022, and it was met with near-universal acclaim. Fans love it. Critics love it. It is loved, and for good reason.
Andor is smart and thrilling, and it is grounded in a way that sets itself apart from a lot of other Star Wars media. Look, there have been some great series during the Disney era of Star Wars. But, personally, I haven’t been this excited about a new season (or series) in this franchise since season three of The Bad Batch began about a year ago.
But enough of that. If you’re here, you just want to see the trailer for Andor season two. Here it is:
For anyone who hasn’t seen the first season of Andor, the show is a prequel to the film Rogue One (2016). That film tells the story of the group of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s Death Star, which is the impetus for the story that is depicted in Star Wars (1977). So, Andor is a prequel to a prequel of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Don’t worry if you’re not a Star Wars fanatic, it’s honestly not confusing at all. Just watch it. You’ll be fine.
The title character of Andor is Cassian Andor, one of the rebels in Rogue One who infiltrate the Empire base to steal the Death Star plans. The first season of Andor begins five years prior to Rogue One and Star Wars: Episode IV. We watch as Cassian is drawn into the fight against the Empire despite initially resisting the call to rebellion.
If you haven’t seen the first season, you can (and should) stream all twelve episodes right now on Disney+. Season one was also released on Blu-ray for fans of physical media.
Andor season two begins streaming on Disney+ on April 22, 2025. The season will reportedly consist of 12 episodes, with episodes releasing over four consecutive weeks in blocks of three. So, April 22, April 29, May 6, and May 13 will have three new episodes released on each of those days.
