The horror-movie release schedule for 2025 is already packed with intriguing new films! From long-awaited sequels to amazing original stories, it’s going to be another stellar year for horror fans. Listed here are the top three movies we’re most looking forward to so far, so mark your calendars!

28 Years Later

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell star in 28 Years Later.

Release Date: June 20, 2025

More than two decades after their original zombie masterpiece 28 Days Later, director Danny Boyle, writer Alex Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle team up once again for 28 Years Later. From what little has been revealed about the story, we know that the area affected by the rage virus is still under quarantine nearly three decades later. A group of survivors live on an island off the coast of England, and two among them risk their lives as they journey to the mainland on a mission.

The Monkey

Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, and Elijah Wood star in The Monkey.

Release Date: February 21, 2025

Inspired by the 1980 short story of the same title by Stephen King, The Monkey is director Osgood Perkins’ first film after his wildly popular Longlegs (2024). The film is about two estranged brothers who are brought back together when a cursed toy monkey they encountered as children begins killing again. From the trailers, The Monkey looks like an incredibly fun (and violent) horror comedy.

Sinners

Ryan Coogler (Creed, Black Panther) wrote and directed Sinners.

Release Date: April 18, 2025

Michael B. Jordan stars in Sinners as twin brothers Elijah and Elias who return to their hometown for a fresh start in life. Specific plot details are scarce, but we know that the film is set during the 1930s in the Southern United States, and the brothers find an unspeakable evil has taken root there. Rumors suggest that Sinners might be a vampire movie, but other supernatural happenings aren’t being ruled out either.
