Bad Boys: Ride or Die

3 High-Octane Comedies To Stream Tonight on Netflix

By

There are few things better than a good action-comedy movie. They’re exhilarating, funny, and, more often than not, heartfelt.

Netflix has many superb examples of the genre. Here are three of my favorite dangerously funny movies on the platform right now.

Rush Hour (1998)

Rush Hour (1998)
All three Rush Hour movies are currently streaming on Netflix.

In 1998, two of the hottest comedic actors in the United States teamed up to create the now-classic action comedy Rush Hour. Jackie Chan co-stars as Chief Inspector Lee, a Hong Kong detective who travels to Los Angeles to help find a diplomat’s kidnapped daughter. Chris Tucker is James Carter, a rogue LAPD detective who is forced to “babysit” Lee since the FBI wants neither man to screw up their investigation. Naturally, Lee and Carter clash, but they grow on each other as they perform an investigation of their own.

The Big 4 (2022)

The Big 4 (2022)
The Big 4 was directed by Timo Tjahjanto (May the Devil Take You, The Night Comes for Us).

This Indonesian action comedy contains ultra-violence and an extremely goofy sense of humor. The story follows a detective’s investigation into her father’s death which leads her to an island where she is now targeted by his old enemies. Her only hope might be in four assassins her father trained, but who are now trying to live out their days in peaceful retirement.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)

Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)
Martin Lawrence and Will Smith have some of the best on-screen chemistry in any action franchise.

Often derided by critics but loved by fans, the Bad Boys movies are always fun. The latest installment sees detectives Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) put their reputations and lives on the line as they try to clear the name of their deceased former police Captain. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a great throwback to the popular action flicks of the 1990s.
