‘Red, White, And Royal Blue’ Is Getting A Sequel—And A Wedding
Red, White, and Royal Blue is a pop culture zeitgeist that began with a book (written by Casey McQuiston) and soon became a Prime Video movie (directed by Matthew López). The story revolved around Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the President of the United States (played by American royalty Uma Thurman), who falls in love with the His Royal Highness the Prince of England, Henry (played by Nicholas Galitzine). But there was a catch—not only was it considered scandalous for the two sons of major world powers to date, but Henry was still in the closet, unable to openly be himself thanks to the scrutiny of the monarchy. And so our story began.
It’s easy to see how this story could’ve garnered so much attention, since everyone loves star-crossed lovers. There’s something about having to fight every single day just to be together that makes a romance truly sizzle. In fact, fans found it so addicting that now they’re being given a sequel: Red, White, And Royal Wedding.
A sequel was announced to be in development back in 2024, so there’s no surprise that we’re finally learning more about it now. Still, it’s exciting to see that the movie will be about a wedding—presumably, Alex and Henry’s. It’s unclear when exactly the movie will release (or many details at all, aside from the fact that it’s getting a new director—Jamie Babbitt of But I’m A Cheerleader acclaim), but now that they’ve dropped an official teaser trailer, I think it’s safe to say it’ll probably be happening soon.
Besides, as a society, we’re all aching for a royal wedding. King Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry are already all married. The next closest thing we have is Taylor Swift’s wedding—and between that and this movie, we’re truly going to be eating well.
