I Bet You’ve Never Seen This Forgotten Travis Kelce TV Show—And It’s Funnier Than You Could Imagine
Travis Kelce has had quite a few good years in the news—just look at his Super Bowl wins, his recent engagement to Taylor Swift, and his emerging Hollywood career (Happy Gilmore 2, anyone?). But what most people don’t know is that his big screen career actually began years before he even met Taylor Swift.
And yes, the rumors are true: Travis Kelce is funny.
In 2020, Travis starred in Moonbase 8, a show written by Fred Armisen, Tim Heidecker, Jonathan Krisel, and John C. Reilly. The show follows three mediocre astronauts (Armisen, Heidecker, and Reilly) who are training at one of NASA’s Moon base simulators as they prepare for the possibility of traveling to the real Moon base.
So where does Travis Kelce come in? Well, he quite literally plays himself. Or, at least, a version of himself.
In the show, NASA brings him on as a celebrity stunt casting, but he gets caught up in the show’s central conflict as the astronauts try to survive the circumstances given to them. It’s hilarious to see athlete Kelce looming over the other comedians and playing a dumb jock forced to ride on the coattails of trained professional astronauts.
Moonbase 8 is proof that Kelce might actually have a Hollywood career waiting for him in the future—let’s just hope he doesn’t stray from his comedy roots, because that’s where he shines brightest.
