14 Insanely Fun Drinking Games Guaranteed To Get You Messed Up This New Year’s Eve

Gather your friends together and get ready to have fun— and, you know, get drunk while you’re at it. What better way to do that than by playing drinking games?

Don’t worry, if you don’t have any ideas for a good game to play, we’ve got your back — here are 14 great drinking games to try out with your friends this NYE, thanks to Ask Reddit. Trust me, you’ll want to try at least one.

1. Chandeliers

Drinking Games

We had a drinking game called “chandeliers,” a variant of quarters. You put a large glass of beer in the middle and surround it with smaller glasses of beer, one for each person.

Each person bounces and if the quarter lands in a player’s glass, that person has to drink it.

Hit the center glass, and everyone has to speed-finish their beer and hold the glass upside down over one’s head. Last person with the glass on her head drinks the giant center glass.

Turning the glass upside down over one’s head provides the option for a lagging player to simply skip the drinking and pour the beer out on her head. Trust me: late game, this always happens.

2. Most likely to

Drinking Game

Most likely to:

Players take turns saying “most likely to get arrested,” “star in an adult film,” “fall for a pyramid scheme” etc. Everyone at the same time points to whomever they think would be most likely to do/be that thing. The person with the most fingers pointed toward them takes a drink. Repeat and enjoy. Tends to get more creative as the game goes on. — amusicalgirl93

3. Arrogance

Drinking Games

One fun game I play at the bar is called Arrogance.

Things you need for this game is beer, an empty pitcher, and a deck of cards. Basically you wager an amount of beer into an empty pitcher and then you pick red or black. If you’re right, the beer stays and the person next to you goes. If you’re wrong, you have to drink what’s in the pitcher. You also don’t stop going until you get the color right.

My friends and I do this to be drunk in an efficient amount of time. I once got caught at the end of 4 straight correct picks. It was a weird night to say the least.

4. Spin the bottle

Drinking Games

Me and my friends play this game when we’re already pretty fucked up. Basically it’s spin the bottle (lighter with us) and you have to look whoever it lands on straight dead serious in the eyes and say the weirdest dirtiest shit you can imagine. Whoever laughs drinks. One time my friend just started saying “i wanna peel an orange with your nipples” and we all died at just “i wanna peel an orange” — trashyfaglord

5. Bones

Drinking Games

We came up with a drinking game called ‘Bones’ in college. You take two dice and roll them. Even number – take a drink. Odd Number – Make a new rule.

It goes 0-60 pretty fast and the more creative the rules the better.— g1128

6. The Whisper Game

Drinking Games

The group comes up with a question, and one is selected to answer it, but only to those who take a shot. If you don’t drink, you don’t get to learn the answer. So you can either feel left out or drink up and get your curiosity solved. — tocco13

7. What’s My Problem?

Drinking Games

This game is called

“What’s my problem”?

One person has to leave the room and the remaining people agree on what their most significant personal issue is.

The person returns to the room and has to guess what their problem is, drinking after each wrong answer.

I work too much?

8. The Matrix Drinking Game

The Matrix Drinking Game:

Step 1: Put on the Matrix

Step 2: Drink every time Keanu Reeves looks confused

Step 3: Die. — FlatKingpin

9. The Forehead Master

Drinking Games

This is a similar rule to the thumb master but you use your forehead instead of your thumb. The last person to touch the table with their forehead has to drink. After a few drinks, people start slamming their heads and concussions start happening. — TanyaL_Nicholson

10. Fingers

Drinking Games

Fingers. Step 1: obtain a large glass. Step 2: have all players pour some of what they are drinking into this glass, creating a hideous concoction, combining beers, hard liqueurs, wine, etc. Step 3: all players place a finger on the glass, taking turns, you say 1, 2, 3. Step 4: on the 3 count, players must remove their fingers or leave them touching the rim of the glass, While the person whose turn it is must guess the number of fingers remaining on the glass.

If correct, that player is out and safe. If wrong, the player remains and the next person takes a turn. This continues until 1 person remains and must chug the contents of the glass.

Example: with everyone touching the glass. Player A says: 1, 2, 3, fingers are removed or kept SEVEN. If 7 fingers remain on the glass, you “win” and are out / safe from the game.

Best Moment I’ve seen from this game, while 2 players remained, Player A: 1, 2, 3, removes his own finger TWO, while Player B kept his finger on, he said TWO and removed his finger, ensuring the max could have only been 1. /facepalm — Dont_make_this_hard

11. Hockey

Drinking Games

Hockey.
Get a few friends (4-5 is ideal) and gather around a small table. Round if possible.

Everyone has a bottle of beer. That is your “net”. Your “stick” is any two fingers on your non-dominant hand. The “puck” is a coin.

So everyone starts with their stick on top of their net. One player spins the puck on the table. Once it’s spinning, they call a name of someone at the table. Then everyone can put their sticks down. The person whose name was called hits the puck with their stick, trying to ding it off one of the nets. If the puck hits your net, you drink. The person whose name was called is the next one to spin the puck.

Rebounds: after the puck is shot, it’s live. If it hits a net or a stick and is still spinning afterwards, anyone can hit it. You can be scored on multiple times.

Penalties: if you spin the puck and it goes off the table; you put your stick down too early; you knock over a drink; or you physically assault someone; then you get out in the penalty box. Whilst in the penalty box, you can’t play for a round. Typically, players will aim for the empty net and try to get multiple goals. — svenson_26

12. Pizza Box

Drinking Games

You start with a pizza box or broken down beer case, and every player writes his/her name on the cardboard and draws a circle around it.

The starting player tosses a quarter onto the box. If it lands on somebody’s name, that person has to drink and it becomes the next player’s turn.

If the quarter lands on a blank spot, the player writes a rule in that location and draws a circle around it–making as big or small as desired. If someone lands their quarter in a rule circle they have to do that rule.

Each person gets one quarter flip per turn, and then you continue to the next person. You keep going until the box is filled with rules. The rules usually continue to get more and more creative, anywhere from “shotgun a beer” to “call another player’s mom”.

13. Ring of Fire (also known as King’s Cup)

Drinking Games

So nobody’s gonna bring up Ring of Fire? Fine. I guess I’ll have to do it myself. Some of these rules can be changed depending on your group. For example: we used to do Waterfall in order. You could only stop drinking after the person immediately before you stopped. Same with thumbmaster. You can do it for the whole game, or you can do it only when the card drops.

First to set up the game, clear off a table and set a cup in the middle with the deck of cards placed around the cup in a circle. Now get a group of friends to gather around the table, each person having a cup/bottle of alcohol to themselves. Before you start the game you must know what each card stands for:

A- Waterfall – Everyone must keep drinking until the person who picked the card stops. So who knows how long you will be going for!

2- is Choose – You can choose someone to drink

3- is Me – You must drink

4- is Whore – All girls drink

5- Thumb Master- When you put your thumb on the table everyone must follow and whomever is last must drink. you are the thumb master till someone else picks a five.

6- is Dicks – All guys drink

7- is Heaven – Point your finger in the sky, whoever is last must drink

8- is Mate – Choose someone to drink with you

9- Rhyme – Pick a word such a dog and the person next to you must rhyme with dog, like log, and it goes to the next person and the next, in a circle, until someone messes up and he or she will have to drink

10- Categories- Pick a category such a football and you go in a circle and everyone has to say a word that fits with football such as: touchdown, field goal, USC. Whoever messes up, drinks.

Jack- Make a Rule – You can make up any rule that everyone has to follow, such as you can only drink with your right hand. Everyone (including you) must follow this rule for the whole entire game and if you disobey you must drink.

Queen- Questions – Go around in a circle and you have to keep asking questions to each other. Doesn’t matter what the question is, as long as its a question. Whoever messes up and does not say a question, drinks.

King- Pour!- You must pour a little of your drink into the cup that is in the middle of the table. Whomever picks up the LAST king must drink the whole cup, which could be filled with different drinks, so who knows how bad it could taste!

Now that you know the rules. One person starts off by picking up a card, and whatever the card may be, follow the rule. Go in a circle and keep picking a card till the last King is picked! — cthulusayswhat

14. The Photographer

Drinking Games

Randomly designate someone to be the “photographer” who will take pictures in any way they see fit, and everyone must be in the photo or take a shot. Makes for some fun pictures. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
