Lupita Nyong’o as Miss Caroline in Little Monsters.

More People Need To Talk About Lupita Nyong’o’s Genius Zombie Comedy

"One, two, three, eyes on me!"

Hulu’s Little Monsters (2019) is the best zombie comedy since Shaun of the Dead (2004). Yet, five years later, almost no one has seen it.

Dave, a deadbeat crashing with his sister, tries to impress his nephew’s kindergarten teacher, Miss Caroline, by chaperoning a field trip. Bad timing—the military base next door accidentally unleashes a zombie apocalypse. Now, Dave, Miss Caroline, and a foul-mouthed children’s TV host (played by a hilarious Josh Gad) must protect the kids.

The film keeps things simple, letting its characters shine. Nyong’o is pitch-perfect as a sweet, unshakable teacher, an independent woman dodging Dave’s advances, and an absolute zombie-slaying badass—all while nailing the comedy.

More people should be raving about this horror-comedy gem. If you love creative zombie kills, sharp humor, and a little rom-com charm, stream Little Monsters on Hulu now.
