Shudder’s Newest Trailer Hints At A Cross Between ‘Midsommar’ And ‘Saint Maud’

By

Shudder just dropped a terrifying trailer for new Irish-language folk horror film from writer/director Aislinn Clarke (The Devil’s Doorway).

Frewaka follows Shoo, a live-in palliative care nurse, as she grapples with her traumatic past while caring for an elderly agoraphobic woman with ghosts of her own.

The trailer hints stunning visuals like classic folk horror films like Midsommar and The Wicker Man

And with a disturbing past and potentially dangerous impulses, the live-in caregiver (played by Clare Monelly, Small Things Like These) definitely gives Saint Maud vibes.

Frewkaka arrives on Shudder on April 25 as part of Shudder’s “Halfway to Halloween” celebration!
