You’ve Already Survived So Much — Don’t Quit Now

You can't punish yourself forever for your mistakes. You shouldn't punish yourself forever for your mistakes, so quit beating yourself up for what you could have done better.

You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Remember when you were crying into your pillow and you didn’t think it would ever get better? Well, it did.

Remember when you didn’t think you could live without them in your life after they left? Well, you’re still breathing.

Remember when you wanted to give up and just wither away because life isn’t fair? Well, you made it through. You’re still here.

You are so strong, so resilient, so tough and so capable.

Even if you haven’t made it through completely yet you’re on your way. Maybe you’re still fighting through the hard times and the battles that seem to never end. Maybe you’re still working on improving yourself and figuring things out. Maybe you’re still working on quieting the voices in your head and picking yourself up. That’s all okay, too, because you will make it.

Sometimes it might feel like you’ve lost it all, sometimes it might feel like you’ll never amount to anything or that you’ll get lost in the storm of life along the way, but you will make it. You’ve just got to keep digging and I know it’s hard. I know it’s so much easier to throw in the towel and just give up, but when you do that and you surrender to life the only person you’re really hurting is yourself.

It’s hard, it’s challenging and it’s not always fair but you just need to stick with it. You need to believe in yourself, even if no one else is there to cheer you on. You need to be your own biggest support team because when you’re crying into your pillow at night you’re the only one who can get you up in the morning. When you’re breaking down in the bathroom you’re the only one who can wipe away your tears. When you’re falling apart you have to be the glue to stick yourself back together.

As much as most bad things feel like the end of the world, know they aren’t. You still have so much good left in your life, so many more firsts, accomplishments and personal victories.

You will find new love, you will find another job, you will have friendships with people who care about you, you will be healthy, you will be okay – as long as you allow yourself to be.

It’s okay to be sad, as long as you don’t let that sadness consume you and overtake your life.

You can’t punish yourself forever for your mistakes. You shouldn’t punish yourself forever for your mistakes, so quit beating yourself up for what you could have done better. Everyone struggles in some aspect of life, everyone has an internal battle they’re fighting, everyone needs someone to count on to help them look forward to tomorrow so don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you can’t do it on your own.

Life is a constant battle between what we want in the moment and what we should be doing. It’s a constant battle between loving and learning. It’s a constant journey to discover who you are because you are always changing, as are your circumstances.

Don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you’re weak, like you’re incapable, like you’re not tough because you are. You just need to believe it yourself.

You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for – don’t forget about how much you’ve already survived and use that as motivation to keep going, don’t quit now. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
