You’ll Be Surprised At What’s Actually Ruining The Sanctity Of Marriage

I realize there are many, many people that are truly IN LOVE and have found the person they are meant to be with and spend their life with.

I realize there are many, many people that are truly IN LOVE and have found the person they are meant to be with and spend their life with. I think that is wonderful, and something truly special that should be celebrated and honored. BUT what I don’t think is wonderful is when some people try to put a facade on their actual relationship and make it something magical and rare when it is evident that WHO they are marrying doesn’t seem to be nearly as important to them as WHO they can brag about it to. People don’t seem to realize that after the walk down the aisle and the Honeymoon is over – you now have a marriage. You have committed yourself for the rest of your existence to this one person, and promised to love them forever. It is going to be hard at times and take work and effort.

These websites we all get so caught up in Facebook and Twitter and that damn Knot website, they unfortunately have distorted the image of what a wedding and a marriage should truly be about for SOME people. I do not fault people for genuinely wanting to share their excitement with their friends and family. I just feel there is a distinct and obvious line between those just excited and those trying to show off or outdo those around them.I will be just as excited as any other girl to get married someday. Although, what is most important to me MORE so than the Honeymoon, or the Engagement Photos, or the invitations, or even the ring, is THE MAN standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me.

Everyone just seems so overly antsy to get engaged and it truly makes me wonder if they simply just cannot wait another moment without making that lifelong commitment to the person they love OR if they just want to be a part of the big, fun game everyone else seems to be playing and they don’t want to be left out. People were concerned about gay people “ruining” the sanctity of marriage (which is ridiculous) but..no..PINTEREST is ruining the sanctity of marriage. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
