8 Things People Don’t Realize You’re Doing Because You’re Unhappy
1. You look for other unhappy people to be around.
You know what they say, misery loves company. So being around a human version of a golden retriever when you’re feeling like shit is the last thing you want. Tbh, positive people make you want to vom. But honestly? It’s because it seems like they’ve cracked some code you just can’t figure out. And that feeling sucks.
2. You lash out.
You’re grumpy when you don’t need to be. You’re mean to those closest to you. You place blame on people or things that didn’t really mean you any harm. It’s an unhealthy release. But it’s a release nonetheless.
3. You sleep a lot.
Not only are you genuinely fatigued, but sleeping is an easy way to escape the mundane day-to-day bustle. Because why be awake when you could be asleep?
4. You don’t ask for what you want.
Maybe it’s fear-based. Maybe it’s a self-esteem issue. Either way, you stick with whatever you’ve got, even if it’s making you terribly unhappy.
5. You treat your body poorly.
You binge on junk food. You drink one too many alcoholic beverages. You skip exercise in exchange for sitting on the couch. It’s a vicious cycle. You don’t feel good, so you find comfort in things that only continue the process.
6. You hibernate.
There’s a huge difference between being an introvert and being a recluse. Withdrawing from people, people you would normally enjoy spending time with, is definitely a red flag that something is wrong. You stop responding to texts. You’re sort of hiding from the world and everyone in it.
7. You slack off.
You start dodging responsibilities or letting people down. You stop giving things 100%. You do the bare minimum and hope it’ll be okay.
8. You look for reasons to stay unhappy.
And it quickly becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
