1. I am the type of girl who needs alone time.

I believe that time spent alone is some of the most valuable. I have learned so much about myself and about the world in my time spent alone. I feel so strongly that going out and exploring the world on our own is of utmost importance. While I love people and I believe the inspiring people I have met along the way have made my life so much more meaningful, I don’t know if I would have crossed paths with those people if I hadn’t taken time to myself throughout my journey. Other people’s opinions and experiences are sure to influence you, which is why it is essential to get in touch with your true self by taking a step away from what other people have to say.

2. I am the type of girl who breaks the rules, on occasion.

I know that rules are usually put in place for a reason. With that being said, I have no problem following the rules. However, as soon as I don’t agree with a rule, I have no problem breaking a rule just as easily as I follow it.

3. I am the type of girl who will go days without showering.

I am not afraid to admit that often days will pass before I jump in the shower. If I feel dirty, I will shower. If I don’t, I won’t. I am okay with having salty skin on a day following the beach or dirt-stained feet after a day of wandering barefoot outside. If I am out camping, I will use the river as my bath or if I am out at sea, the salty water will have to suffice. The less I shower, the more I appreciate getting clean again.

4. I am the type of girl who doesn’t want to get married.

Marriage doesn’t mean anything to me. The big wedding, marriage papers, and title don’t mean anything to me. I don’t want a diamond ring. I don’t want to have a bunch of people I feel obligated to invite at a party that is supposed to be intimate and meaningful. The only thing that means something to me is the genuine feelings of love between my man and me. I want to have a family and I want to grow old with a man that I share kids with. However, the big wedding party, the expensive ring and the white dress are not a part of my plan.

5. I am the type of girl who believes in acting out of kindness.

Being kind is the only way to be. Everything you put out into the world changes the world. Every act of kindness is passed on in ways you may not even realize. The simple smile to a stranger, the compliment you didn’t have to say and the extra time you spent helping someone out is all an important part of being human. Being kind is all that really matters.

6. I am the type of girl who likes to stay up late and the type of girl who likes to wake up early.

The moon is charming and enticing. I like to stay up late into the night, drinking tea, writing, or partying. There is something so special about staying up late, looking up at the stars and feeling connected to something so little of us understand. However, the sun is rejuvenating and uplifting. I like to wake up early to watch the vibrant colors paint the sky with a cup of coffee in my hand or go for a morning swim in the ocean as the sign of a new day beats down on my skin. I love the warm feeling the sun gives. The sun brings hope while the moon stirs curiosity. Both are beautiful.

7. I am the type of girl who will always hate the mall.

To me, the mall is depressing. The endless supply of unnecessary clothing and accessories made by overworked underpaid people in third world countries gives me a feeling of hopelessness. The times I find myself in a mall, I can’t help but look at all the people mindlessly buying things that aren’t going to make them any better looking, any smarter or any cooler. I become overwhelmed with sadness as I pass by a world of excessive, cheap goods with no benefit to anybody. Unlike so many women, I have never understood why anybody would ever want to “shop ‘til they drop.”

8. I am the type of girl who is curious and questioning.

I have the desire to see the world. I have a curiosity that pulls me in so many directions. I want to experience so many different things and live life with no regrets. I want to see new places, talk to all kinds of people and learn as much as I can. While I am eager to listen and soak up all the information that gets thrown at me, I am also one to question it. I am questioning of society and questioning of what has become “normal” to people. As I curiously explore, I continue to see that there really is no normal way to live, thus making me question further. It is all a mystery, but a great one.

9. I am the type of girl who prefers to be barefoot and braless.

No shoes, no bra, no problem. That’s my philosophy at least.

10. I am the type of girl who believes in a truth.

I believe that we (people, animals, and all living things) are all a part of something so much greater. I believe there is a higher power or truth that is a force none of us can truly grasp. The earth is constantly shifting and changing but I would like to believe that we as people will continue to shift the world to make it a better place, slowly making our way closer to “the truth.”

11. I am the type of girl who believes there are no “types.”

Everybody is unique. We cannot categorize ourselves into types or groups because we are all different. We all have the little things that make us tick and we all have our own unique paths. It is important to embrace the qualities that make us special. There are so many amazing people on this earth and each and every one of us is inspiring in a unique way. We are all original.
