9 Risks You Need To Take If You Don’t Want To End Up Regretting Your 20s

risks you need to take in your twenties
Twenty20 / @criene

1. Do the thing you’re most afraid of.

Fear is the root of complacency. It drives us back into our comfort zone because it’s what we’re used to. Do something that absolutely terrifies you, it’s when you’ll learn more about yourself in unimaginable ways.

2. Book a trip you really can’t afford but are determined to go on.

You won’t regret spending the cash due to the unforgettable experiences you’ll have. Travel now so that you have experiences to live through and stories to tell someday. Your twenties are your “selfish” years to explore as many places you possibly can.

3. Put yourself out there regardless of the outcome.

Tell someone how you feel about them. Even if you’re unsure if they feel the same way you do. Let yourself get rejected, wallow in the hurt, and then move the fuck on. Every single rejection and failure is pointing you in the right direction.

4. Leave the job that you really hate to pursue the career you’re truly passionate about.

Even if it’s completely different from your original plan. Life works in mysterious ways. Sometimes we think we know what we want for ourselves. And we’ll get to that place, only to realize how far off our expectations really were. It’s okay to be confused about the future. It’s okay that you don’t know exactly what you want to do with the rest of your life.

5. Live in the present moment without letting fear or expectations of the future hold you back from doing so.

Appreciate a moment before it becomes a memory. And then cherish those memories after they do. You cannot buy memories, and they are guaranteed to last you a lifetime.

6. Date the asshole.

In search of finding “the one”, you’re more than likely going to have to date a handful of douche bags before you find them. And once you know what you don’t want from a relationship, you’ll finally know what it is you do want.

7. Put your phone away and look around.

If you spend 99% of your time looking into a screen, you’ll miss out on the wonderful things around you. Make an effort to spend less time looking at collections of other people’s memories and go out and start making your own.

8. Try something new that you never thought you’d ever be capable of doing.

Prove yourself wrong. Show yourself that you’re capable of anything and everything you set your mind to.

9. Chase your passions.

Passion, the “P” word that we’re all trying to figure out the meaning of. What are your passions? Find your passions and chase them. Your passions are a part of your purpose. Life would be nothing without them. Passions are what ignite the fire within you and once that fire has been lit, you’re destined to do incredible things. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
