When You Realize What You Deserve

Mahkeo

You realize you are over someone when you finally understand that your loneliness without them is better than being beside a warm body. You don’t deserve simply a warm body. You deserve a soul to connect with. You deserve that connection with another person, not simply someone to stand beside you. You deserve someone to share your hopes, your dreams and your passions with.

You deserve to be with someone who wants to be with you, not someone who needs you. You cannot be with someone who simply needs you. You deserve to be with someone who truly wants you, someone who truly craves you. You deserve to be with someone who wants to be with you even though they know that they can, in fact, live without you. They know that they are able to survive without you, but simply they choose you, time and time again.

You deserve to be with someone who puts effort into wanting to be with you. You deserve to be with someone who truly wants to stand by your side through the messiness. Someone who can understand why you’re being tough, why you’re being cold and doesn’t scold you for being that way. You deserve someone who can see through your flaws and doesn’t make you hide them. You deserve someone who can be honest with you on what they need from you and they expect you to do the same.

You deserve to be with someone you don’t have to censor yourself for. You deserve to be with someone who you can be open and honest about how you’re feeling instead of tiptoeing around the issue afraid of what the consequences will be for your honesty. Don’t ever censor yourself to spare another person’s feelings. Always be honest. Always be open. Always be transparent. The one who sticks around after your honesty and vulnerability is the one who deserves you. The one who sees the messiness and brokenness and questions why you try to hide it is the one who deserves you.

You deserve someone to be more than a warm body, someone who truly cares, someone who truly sees what is underneath the vulnerabilities that we keep hidden and question why we hide. Someone who loves us in spite of those vulnerabilities is the one who deserves us. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
