Leaving Isn’t Necessarily A Bad Thing – In Fact, Leaving Brings You To Where You’re Meant To Be

Leaving should not be looked at as a sign of weakness. You leave because you know there's a world out there that's waiting for you. A world that values you more and appreciates you more.

When leaving something or someone in the past still haunts you up until this day, remember the reasons why you walked away in the first place. Remind yourself the exact moment when you took a deep breath, closed your eyes, and decided that it was time for you to leave. It was time for you to turn around from something that you thought you loved. It was time for you to move on and find out who you really were.

It’s easy to be tricked by your emotions and have them persuade you into thinking that your biggest choices in life before were wrong.

But following your heart was – and will always be – right.

Trusting your gut meant you cared to listen to the voice that was screaming inside of you. And you were brave enough to run after what you wanted instead of what people wanted for you.

You had the urge to move on and you never thought about ignoring the fire in your chest that was telling you to start anew. You chose to find yourself by letting go of the ones, the places, and the experiences that were preventing you from completely blooming. You endured the pain of saying goodbye to everything that once made you happy, and once became an important part of your life.

You left because you knew that your soul would forever feel stuck if you stayed. You left hoping you could find something more meaningful that would fulfill the emptiness in your heart. You left to find your purpose and your passion. You left even though it hurt.

Sometimes you look back and miss everything in your past. You try to imagine what your life would be like if you chose to stick around and be with the same people. Somehow you doubt yourself, questioning whether leaving was really the wisest alternative.

But leaving something you have outgrown brings you to where you are right now.

At some point you have to stop peeking behind your shoulder and yearn for the things that are no longer yours. You have to accept the world that’s in front of you, not because you don’t have a choice, but because it makes moving on easier. It makes you more at peace with the life that you’re leading.

Sometimes you have to believe that you end up where you’re meant to be. You might feel frustrated and unable to understand the situation that the world puts you into, but one day it will all make sense. One day you will learn that patience is ultimately the solution for most things in life. You will realize that forcing and rushing your growth will not get you anywhere.

Leaving should not be looked at as a sign of weakness. You leave because you know there’s a world out there that’s waiting for you. A world that values you more and appreciates you more.

You leave because you can feel in your bones that you’re meant for greatness. You’re not destined to just exist and go with the motions. You’re here to rock the world, make a difference, and leave a mark in everyone’s life. You’re here to live and really feel what it’s like to be a human being.

Leaving is hard, painful and heartbreaking but it should never give you regrets. You don’t have to stay when you’re unhappy. You don’t have to force yourself to be with people who bring out the worst in you. You don’t have to pretend you’re strong when deep inside, you’re already falling apart.

You can run away from what’s keeping you to shine bright. Because at the end of the day, you’re the only one who gets to decide and push for the kind of future that you envision for yourself. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
