8 Reasons The Girl Who’s Always Single And The Girl In A Serious Relationship Make The Best Of Friends

1. The friend who’s in a serious relationship needs some time to get away from her serious relationship.

She does A LOT with, and for, her significant other, and as much as she loves doing that, she also enjoys the time she occasionally gets to spend without them. The friend who’s always single is the friend who’s in a serious relationship’s escape. It’s the time she has to let her hair down, go crazy, and basically act like she’s single without actually going against the commitment of her relationship.

2. The friend who’s always single and the friend who’s in a serious relationship never compete against each other.

When the single friend goes out with her other single friends, the scene is either a complete free-for-all or every single friend adheres to their designated single friend role, which can range from the girl who’s swarmed by men wanting to buy her drinks, or the girl who’s swatting those swarming men away. But when she goes out with her friend who’s in a serious relationship, that friend assumes the role of automatic wing-woman. She’s more than willing to talk to Prince Charming’s not-so-charming friend while you shamelessly flirt with said Prince and hopefully get his number by the end of the night. She just uses her go-to line which reveals she has a boyfriend and she casually chats with Prince Charming’s friend while he innocently feels obliged to buy her drinks.

3. The friend who’s always single pushes the friend who’s in a relationship outside of her comfort zone (in all the right ways).

The always single friend is the one who convinces the relationship friend that mechanical bull riding is a perfect activity for their Friday night. The friend who’s always in a relationship wouldn’t do a quarter of the things she does with her single friend, on her own. Whether it’s taking an art class that allows you to BYO Chardonnay, or it’s putting on a glow in the dark bra and going to an EDM club playing music she’s never heard before, the single friend gets the relationship friend to step outside of her relationship box, and they both reap the benefits.

4. The friend who’s in a relationship gives her brutally honest opinion of the single friend’s dating life.

The friend who’s in a relationship always wants the best for her always single friend, and the always single friend sometimes doesn’t realize that the people she’s pouring her heart and energy into aren’t worth it, or she just doesn’t care. This is when the friend who’s always in a relationship gives the always single friend her much needed reality check. Unfiltered, honest, and always well-intentioned, the friend who’s in a relationship knows her single bestie deserves the world.

5. The friend who’s single appreciates the opinion of her friend who’s in a healthy, committed relationship.

Because whether she wants a relationship or not, she admires her settled down friend for finding a companion who makes her happy in every healthy way. She knows if her friend can stay in a healthy relationship, she can trust her to give sound advice.

6. The friend who’s in a relationship has other single friends she can set her up with.

The always single friend is used to people constantly trying to set her up with their friend’s cousin’s nephew’s uncle, or whoever they think would be ‘absolutely PERFECT for her, and her friend who’s in a relationship is no different. The friend who’s in a relationship will continue to try and find her someone she can settle down with, and the single friend will continue to give them all a (somewhat) fair chance.

7. The friend who’s in a relationship can tell the always single friend anything because she knows she doesn’t have a significant other she tells EVERYTHING to.

She can vent to her about basically anything, and whether it’s terribly embarrassing or not, she knows her always single friend isn’t going to tell a boyfriend or significant other. Her secrets are safe and sound.

8. The friend who’s in a relationship can count on her single friend to ALWAYS show her a good time.

The always single friend is constantly out doing things. She has a pretty active social life when she’s not alone watching Netflix, and the friend in a relationship knows this. The single friend almost never turns down a girls’ night, and whether it’s a girls’ night spent dancing in sweaty night clubs until closing time, or one spent eating take out on the couch until food babies become food comas, it will ALWAYS be a good time. The always single friend and the friend who’s always in a relationship are perfect for each other in every way. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
