Why You’re Unhappy (Even Though You Have A Great Life), Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Sophia Sinclair

Aries: March 21st – April 19th

You’re convinced that in order for your life to be meaningful and exciting, there always needs to be something crazy or adventurous happening. What you need to realize is that although you should never tone down your bold spirit, you can also be okay with appreciating the beautiful, little moments of life – like having a quiet dinner with someone you care about or discovering a book that completely changes your perspective on something.

Taurus: April 20th – May 20th

You haven’t yet struck a healthy balance between being determined and persistent, while also knowing when it’s okay to just let things go. You’re a very consistent and reliable person, but you’re so obsessed with control that it can end up turning your willpower from something good into something detrimental. You need to learn when it’s important to keep persisting and when it’s important to acknowledge that something’s out of your control.

Gemini: May 21st – June 20th

You subconsciously ask others for permission to be happy, and you subconsciously ask others for permission to be yourself. You are so used to getting along with everyone and being the lighthearted one that you have a hard time listening to your gut or following your own beliefs if you know it won’t please everyone. You need to cut yourself some slack, surround yourself with good people, and understanding that pleasing every person is absolutely impossible.

Cancer: June 21st – July 22nd

You’re an emotional sponge, often to the point where it becomes unhealthy. Your relationships are all wholehearted, genuine, and full of depth, but they also put a lot of stress on your mental wellbeing. You want so badly for your loved ones to be happy that you constantly absorb their stress, negativity, and unhappiness and forget that sometimes, you need to put yourself first.

Leo: July 23rd – August 22nd

You’re unhappy because you don’t know how to adjust your expectations. You have such a creative vision for your life and a go-getter attitude, but you haven’t yet mastered how to get back up and brush yourself off after you’ve been thrown a curveball (which is just an inevitable part of life). What you need is to learn how to find joy in the actual experience of something, as it’s happening right in front of you, rather than obsessively trying to steer it in the direction you’ve arbitrarily convinced yourself that you must be heading towards.

Virgo: August 23rd – September 22nd

You’ve convinced yourself that you need to be a rock for others but that others cannot be a rock for you. You’ve always been the one who has their life together and who seemingly always knows what their next step is going to be. And because you’ve always been the responsible and reliable one, you’ve fallen into an unhealthy habit of bottling up your fears and worries and closing in on yourself. You need to start giving yourself permission to lean on others the way they lean on you.

Libra: September 23rd – October 22nd

You don’t let yourself be anything but ‘on.’ Your personality is just naturally more friendly, outgoing, and charming – but you’re still human and you still need time to mellow out, relax, and let yourself just ‘be’ without trying to impress anyone. When you feel like you’re constantly putting on a show, it’s impossible to feel truly connected with yourself, so you need to give yourself some space to sometimes not be the most popular person in the room.

Scorpio: October 23rd – November 21st

You actually hold yourself to too high of a standard. It’s great to be so determined, passionate, and focused on what you want, but you bring forth your own unhappiness when you put pressure on yourself to be the perfect human being – which is an aspiration that is simply impossible for every person on this earth. You need to give yourself more permission to fail – that’s what’s going to open more doors for you and give you more confidence and breathing room.

Sagittarius: November 22nd – December 21st

You’re not honest with yourself about what you truly want. You have a preconceived idea about who you’re supposed to be, and if anything threatens to disrupt the image you think people have of you, you squash it without ever giving it a chance to grow. You’ll be a lot happier when you stop trying to force yourself to be one way and instead lead with your gut and chase those things in life that actually elicit passion and excitement from you.

Capricorn: December 22nd – January 19th

You follow a very strict and rigid ‘life checklist,’ and you never allow yourself to veer away from it, even if it’s to go in a direction that inspires you and evokes your curiosity. You put too much pressure on yourself to follow a very specific and arbitrary timeline of where you’re supposed to be or what you’re supposed to have accomplished by every age, instead of remembering that your life is not supposed to look like anyone else’s. You need to remember that as long as you’re working hard and living with integrity, you’ll end up where you’re supposed to, even if it looks different than you imagined.

Aquarius: January 20th – February 18th

You need to give yourself permission to care about stuff and to chase the dreams that actually matter to you. You’re certainly not lazy or passive, but you do try to repress your dreams or goals if you don’t think they match up with what others think you should be doing at this point in your life. It’s good to want to work hard and provide for yourself and contribute to society, but you need to remember that being employed and doing things you’re passionate about don’t have to be mutually exclusive things.

Pisces: February 19th – March 20th

You’re not active enough in your decision-making. You definitely know how to find the good in any situation, but sometimes this means you let others decide things for you instead of deciding for yourself where you want to go and what you want to do next. Maintain your compassion and your warm outlook on the world, but do it while consciously going after what you want instead of just waiting to see what happens to come around.
