Let’s Talk About Everything, Let’s Have Real Conversations

Let’s have conversations — real ones.

Let’s talk about the things people are terrified of talking about; like pain, like insecurities, like heartbreak. Let’s talk about things other than work or the weather or the latest movie you’ve seen.

Let’s talk about stories. Tell me the story of your life, tell me how you became the man you are today, tell me about the struggle to get to where you are and tell me about what sets you apart, tell me about why you part your hair to the right or why you love wearing black, tell me why you left your city and what made you run away.

And tell me about her. The one who changed you, the one who broke you, the one you miss, the one you care about, the one you wished you had met later in life and tell me about the one that got away. Tell me everything.

And I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you why I’m so blunt or why I like to talk about emotions or why I read too much into things. I’ll tell you why I ran away, why I’m so confused, how I got lost and how I found myself. And I’ll tell you about him.

The one who took all my love, the one who taught me how to love and ironically the one who taught me about heartbreak, I’ll tell you about him and how he’s my muse. I’ll tell you about all the words he said and all the words I kept to myself. I’ll tell you about it all and I’ll tell you how he led me to you.

Because I don’t want to repeat the same mistake again with you.

I don’t want to pretend like I don’t like you or that I’m only interested in the conversations you have with everyone else.

I don’t want to keep my words in anymore and later regret not letting you know how you made me feel. I don’t want any what ifs or maybes between us. I want us to say it all, to talk so openly, to let it all out so we can be free and leave no room for questions — leave no room for doubts.

I don’t want us to text and wait a few hours before we reply. I don’t want us to ask random questions or send silly jokes. I don’t want to know you through facebook or Instagram. I want to know you through you; through your eyes, through your voice, through your body language and through your heart. I want us to exchange secrets instead of lies. I want us to be foolishly open instead of selfishly guarded.

Let’s talk about everything and nothing. Let’s talk about beautiful things and ugly things. Let’s talk about sadness and happiness. Let’s laugh and cry. Let’s be so wise but also so silly. Let’s just talk. Let’s communicate. Let’s be ourselves.

And let’s fall in love with everything people hate about us. Let’s truly get lost in our conversations. Let’s not keep track of time. Let’s say it all. Let me prove to you that someone can hear it all and stay. Let me tell you why I’ll never leave. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
