Fall In Love With Someone Who Makes You Laugh
Fall in love with a person who’s going to crack jokes at the worst times, who’s going to connect with your sense of humor, who’s going to turn your anxiousness into ease, your fear into confidence.
You fall in love with someone for many reasons—maybe because they understand you on the deepest of levels, or maybe because their heart seems unexplainably connected with yours. Maybe you fall in love because you’re both passionate about the same things, or because you feel comfortable confiding your biggest secrets in them without hesitation. Maybe you fall in love because you trust one another, because you feel like a stronger person when you’re around them, or maybe even because you can’t imagine your life without them in.
All those things are beautiful, and good reasons to fall in love. But I think one of the most important things is to fall in love with someone who makes you laugh.
Life is tough and imperfect and often painful. You will face defeat, doubt, pain, loss, betrayal, death, and heartbreak. You will get knocked down; you will rebuild yourself and then fall again. You will lose loved ones, you will feel challenged in your faith, and you will have moments when you question everything—and in all of this, you need someone who will bring a smile to your face.
Life is too short and too complicated to settle for someone who doesn’t make you laugh, for someone who doesn’t brighten your days with a smile or a silly joke, a random tickle session or a cutesy kiss on your cheek when you least expect it.
Sometimes we think about love as this serious commitment, like we need to be all grim-faced about it, like it’s this straight-edge, walk-the-line sort of thing in our lives. And it’s not. Yes, relationships should be legitimate promises of faithfulness to one another, but they don’t have to be so dang serious.
Relationships can, and should be the reasons why we are so incredibly happy.
We should love life, and our significant others. And the people we choose to fall for should make us celebrate living even more than we would on our own, because now we have someone to celebrate with.
You need to fall for someone who makes you laugh. Someone who brings the best out of you in every situation, who always gives you a reason to smile. Someone who drags you out of your worst moods and who can save you from your deepest pain.
Fall in love with someone who reminds you, every single day, what a joy it is to be alive.
Fall in love with a person who’s going to crack jokes at the worst times, who’s going to connect with your sense of humor, who’s going to turn your anxiousness into ease, your fear into confidence. Someone who will love you for you, and keep you that happy, carefree you for the rest of your days together. Because our time on earth will be short, and only laughter and love will get us through.
