I Want You To Love Me For The Non-Obvious Reasons

I want you to love me for the way I wear my hair in a towel after I get out of the shower and have black smeared all under my eyes.

I want you to love me for the way I laugh, especially when I’m laughing so hard no noise is coming out of my mouth but tears are streaming down my face. I want you to smile when you hear me laugh from deep in my belly because of something you said that you didn’t even find funny. I want you to love me for always laughing at your laugh because it makes me happy.

I want you to love me for the way I wear my hair in a towel after I get out of the shower and have black smeared all under my eyes.

I want you to love me for my eyes, the way you can tell how I’m feeling just by looking at me. I want you to love me for the way I look at you when I’m happy and the way my eyes get bluer when I cry.

I want you to love me when I burn your breakfast because I was too preoccupied on my phone. I want you to love me for not being able to make Instagram worthy breakfasts, but still being able to cook up something good for you. I want you to love me for always vowing to pour two cups of coffee in the morning.

I want you to love my for my hands, for the way they hold yours perfectly. I want you to love me when they’re freezing cold and I put them on you to try to warm them up. I want you to love me when I run them through your perfect hair and the way they touch your face when I kiss you.

I want you to love my for my voice, even my horribly tone-deaf singing voice. I want you to laugh at me as we’re riding along in the car and I’m belting out the words to my favorite song and hitting every note off key. I want you to love me when I hear a song for the first time and try to sing along, but mess up all the words so you just laugh. I want you to love me when I’m singing full on and you change the song without me knowing so I continue to sing the rest of the word in dead silence.

I want you to love me for how quirky and weird I am. I want you to look at me and think, ‘that’s my weirdo.’

I know I’ll embarrass you from time to time, but know that is it unintentional and I’m not doing it on purpose, but love me anyway. I want you to love me for the weird things I do that I don’t even notice I do myself.

I want you to love me for being real. I want you to love me even though I’ll get frustrated with the world from time to time. I want you to love me when I don’t feel like cooking dinner for the whole week and we just end up getting take out. I want you to love me when I’m wrapped in a blanket sick on the couch and whining about how I just want you to come love me.

I want you to love me when I start to get anxiety that I’ll never finish everything I have to do on time. I want you to love me when you’re telling me to just breathe because everything will be just fine. I want you to love me when I find it hard to love myself.

I want you to love me for the way I sing in the shower. I want you to love me for my unconditional love for animals and how I’ll always stop to pet a dog. I want you to love me for my insane love for food.

I want you to love me for me; my real, uncovered, natural self.

I want you to love me in the non-obvious ways, but in the ways you grow to love about a person.

I want you to love me in a deeper, more romantic way than what’s on the outside. I want you to love me for what’s on the inside because I promise I will love every weird, quirky, normal and deep part about you.

I’ll love you way deeper than surface value because I love the non-obvious things and that’s what I want you to love me for, too. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
