This Is Why I Know I’ll Be The Girl You Regret Letting Go

I’m sorry to burst your bubble but they don’t make love like this every day.

When you left me, you left with a breathtaking amount of confidence. What kind of privileged life have you lived where things like this come around so easily? Do you think you’ll find a relationship like this around every corner? I’m sorry to tell you how uncommon magic really is.

What I’ve learned about life is that it isn’t easy and when good things happen, you have to be ready to hold on to them. When you let something good go, there’s no guarantee something better will replace it. Good people are rare. Good people who know how to love, who are mature enough to do the work of loving someone are even rarer. To have all of that in someone who chooses to love you is the dream. Not everyone gets it, but you walked away.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble but they don’t make love like this every day.

You’ll find love again, but it won’t be like this. You’re not a common guy and you won’t be satisfied with just a common girl. At first her simplicity will feel comforting. It’s relaxing for something that is supposed to be hard to feel so easy. But you’ll miss being challenged. You’ll wake up in the middle of the night and wonder what’s missing from your life.

You’ll wonder if you’ve settled, if you could have had a bigger life, if you would have felt more alive if you stayed with me. I say “wonder” because you’ll ask yourself the question, but we both know you already know the answer.

One thing I am absolutely certain of is that we are not built to settle. We are not meant to live on the sidelines of life cheering on other people who had the courage to do the work of living the life they were born to lead. You were born special, you were born for something magic. I’m sorry you’re afraid to see it this way. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
