1. You abuse social media.

FaceTime, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Viber, Skype and imessage are all means of communication throughout the day depending on the importance of the conversation.

2. You send her texts you would send your boyfriend.

Wish you were here. No one gets me like you do. Nothing is the same without you. I miss you. Come back. I need you in my life.

3. You subconsciously compare all new friends to her.

Then get disappointed when they don’t measure up but you realize how much you miss her and how lucky you are to have her in your life.

4. You schedule your sleep based on her time zone.

Which often means that you will have to wake up in the middle of the night to talk to her but you do anyway because it’s absolutely worth it.

5. You investigate her timeline.

You ask about the new friend she just added, or that new place she just checked in at, or the person who liked her new post, suddenly you become so possessive and you start posting random things on her timeline just to mark your territory.

6. Your #TBT & #FBF always include her.

It’s another way of marking your territory. Letting everyone know that you go way back and have amazing memories together that no one else can recreate.

7. You play dress-up for her before dates.

You keep sending her multiple pictures of different outfits so she can pick the best one for you, sometimes you go overboard and send her videos of the jokes you have prepared so she makes sure you don’t make a fool of yourself and give you her blessing.

8. You get a little bit jealous when you look at other best friends.

You get flashbacks of how you and her used to do the same thing or laugh at the same thing and you wish you could just teleport her wherever you are.

9. She is still the first to check in.

She is still the first to call you after a job interview or after a first date and she remembers all the tiny details you tell her about your life as if she was living with you.

10. You even miss the silence.

You sometimes just call her and say nothing just to feel her presence somehow and sometimes you both end up falling asleep.

11. You keep track of the new spots.

You keep writing down the new cafes, restaurants and bars that you two will try together when she visits and you already know which table you’re getting  and what you two will order.

12. You appreciate her even more.

You always appreciated her but when you meet new people, you realize that the connection you have is just one of a kind and no one will understand you better than she does. You understand the meaning of absence makes the heart grow fonder.

13. You send her articles like this.

You send her articles talking about the struggles of long distance friends, you tag her in memes that explain this dilemma, and you automatically share anything that has Serena and Blair in it.

14. She is the victim of all your drunk texts.

Whether you are weeping because of how much you miss her or complaining about the guy you are dating. She will always be the receiver of all your rants, mood swings, melodrama and absurdity, but she still accepts it and loves you even more for it.

15. Your reunion is the highlight of your year.

Finally when it’s time to see each other after so long, you realize that nothing has changed, the world is good again, and that you two will always be inseparable no matter how many miles separate you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
