24 People On The One Thing They Wish Their Significant Other Would Do

Relationships are a lot of work, and a lot of that work involves communication. Sometimes though, it seems like there are a few topics of concern that are either hard to bring up to your significant other. Either you don’t know how to approach the topic or they don’t listen when you do bring it up, but no matter how much you love someone, they might do something that worries you. I asked a few of my friends what they wish their significant knew, or what they wish was different in their relationship, because though nobody’s perfect, sometimes there are things that you might be able to work on as a couple.

1. Mia, 24

I know this is really selfish, but sometimes I wish my boyfriend would randomly come home with flowers for me. I see guys with bouquets on the bus every now and again, and whether it’s for an anniversary or a birthday or not, it just seems like a really cute gesture.

2. Alex, 22

I really wish my girlfriend would at least try to watch sports with me. I’ll watch all her favorite shows with her, even the ones I don’t enjoy at all, but as soon as I turn on a game she acts like it’s literally painful for her to watch. It would just be nice to share that with her.

3. Steven, 27

Sometimes it feels like she doesn’t put in any effort into looking nice for me anymore. When we first started dating, she did it all the time. Not that she isn’t beautiful now, but I do miss knowing she was dressing up for me.

4. Taylor, 25

When we’re out in public I wish my boyfriend would hold my hand when we’re walking together. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but would make me feel so much more confident in our relationship.

He says he doesn’t need the title or being Facebook official to know that we’re together, but I do.

I wish she were more trusting in me. I’ve never done anything to suggest I would cheat, but, from her past, she is always critical of what I’m doing and who I might be with. I guess trust is what I want more than anything.

He really doesn’t need to LIKE my friends, but I wish he wouldn’t rag on them as hard as he does. I’ve tried talking to him about it, and I get why he would find some of them annoying, but they don’t annoy me. I love him and them both and I don’t want to choose between the two.

Is it too much to ask for her to make sure she’s “fresh” down there before sex? I would rather wait a few extra minutes for her to take care of that situation than to have to endure it.

I wish she wouldn’t need other people’s attention so much. I don’t know if she does it to make me jealous, but constantly preening for everyone else around us is kind of annoying. (I’m not even sure she’s aware she’s doing it when she does.)

When my fiancé is sick, he won’t go to the doctor. Instead, he mopes and whines around the house for days about how terrible he feels. Dude, just go get some medicine. It’s not a sign of weakness, but your whining definitely is.

Honestly, sometimes I wish she would just tell me I’m wrong. She’s so determined to be easygoing and okay with everything that sometimes I want her to push back on me.

I wish he wouldn’t read over my shoulder when I’m texting. If he wanted to see my phone, I would let him. I don’t have anything to hide, but the way he glares over my shoulder makes me uncomfortable.

I know he has Tinder on his phone still. He showed me when he deactivated the account, but he could reactivate it so easily. I’d feel much better about it if he deleted the app altogether.

If she knows she’s going to a 6 am workout class the next morning, she can stay at her place. Being woke up when she’s getting ready to leave at 5 is really annoying.

I wish he would show at least a little interest in my kid. He doesn’t have to act like his stepdad, but a little interest would show me that this relationship has the potential to go somewhere.

He’s really regimented about his diet and workout, and it’s kinda concerning. I appreciate the 6 pack and everything but I’m worried he’s veering into eating disorder territory.

She needs to stop being so touchy feely with my brother. It makes everyone uncomfortable and is just plain creepy.

Sometimes I feel like she picks fights with me so I have to prove that I love. The make up sex is great but isn’t worth the headache of fighting.
