22 Reasons You’re Still Not Over Your Ex
You have absolutely no energy to start getting to know someone all over again, you just want to be with someone you already know perfectly well.
1. You liked yourself better when you were with them, because you were much more adventurous and willing to take risks (knowing that there was someone there behind you).
2. It was nice when you were able to stay home during a weekend and still have really good plans, which mostly consisted of ordering a pizza and watching movies together.
3. You secretly think they were a little too good for you, and you are afraid that you’re not going to get someone that good again.
4. You know that it was, at least in many ways, your fault that the relationship ended, and you can’t believe you let something so good slip through your fingers.
5. All your friends keep accidentally referring to you guys as a couple even though you’ve been broken up for a while.
6. Your family really loved them and was openly hoping that the two of you were going to end up together.
7. You haven’t gathered up the willpower to delete all of the photos you have saved up of the two of you on your computer, and you keep torturing yourself by looking at them when you know that you’re completely alone.
8. Part of you knows that it was much easier for them to find someone new than for you to do it, and you deeply resent them for that.
9. It feels like everyone else around you is in a relationship and you have become the pathetic single friend that everyone has to feel sorry for again.
10. Since the two of you have split up, all you can remember are the really good moments that you miss, and somehow your mind has managed to block out all the fights and fundamental differences that led you to break up in the first place.
11. All of the dates that you’ve gone on since the two of you broke up have been extremely disappointing, and your brain immediately associates “good dates” with “your ex.”
12. For so long, you took for granted the idea that you would end up with someone, and have someone to go home to at the end of every day. Now you don’t even know if you’ll be able to take care of a cat.
13. More and more people are getting engaged on your Facebook.
14. You have absolutely no energy to start getting to know someone all over again, you just want to be with someone you already know perfectly well.
15. Things are much less exciting when you know you’re going to have to do them all alone.
16. Part of you had assumed that your ex was always going to be a part of your life, no matter what happened, and the fact that they are completely gone from your life is extremely hard to deal with.
17. You (not so) secretly feel like their new SO is better-looking than you.
18. The entire breakup has made you petty over things you used to not care about at all, and you don’t know how to explain that you don’t want to be the person that you’re becoming.
19. All of your friends have had to divide a little bit over the breakup, and you never before realized how many of your friends were mutual and just as important to both of you.
20. You felt more beautiful when you were in a relationship with someone whom you knew found you completely beautiful and desirable.
21. You can tell that all of your friends are tripping over themselves to set you up with someone and you don’t want to be forced into something new just because you’re alone.
22. Whether or not you’ll admit it, a huge part of you is still in love with them, and you don’t know what your life is going to look like in the long term without them. You just want them to hold you and tell you it’s all going to be okay, and that they love you, too.
