When The World Grows Dark, Let God’s Light Find You
Throughout the course of our lives, we will undoubtedly grieve people, experiences, and versions of ourselves. Karin Hadadan, best-selling author of Beauty in the Stillness, speaks about how God’s light continues to fill us (even in moments of darkness).
We will also suffer with our health, finances, careers, or relationships—as it is part of our human existence that will continue to be part of life’s formula. But even in the darkest of circumstances, genuine hope still exists, allowing us to take one step forward each day.
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
When we’re suffering, we tend to be consumed by it. It becomes all we think about, all we give our energy toward, all we focus on and make time for. Pain can become our identity, clouding our minds and fogging our eyes.
But what we must remember is the daily renewal of God’s mercies—each morning that we wake up is proof that God has yet to complete the masterpiece of our lives. He is giving us another opportunity, another chance. He is offering hope that someday soon, the pain we’re feeling will be transmuted into something greater, with purpose.
The scripture tells us, ‘Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed’—rather than being consumed by challenges, we must immerse ourselves in something more profound: His love. Because the only constant in life will be just that—His love for you never wavers, despite changing circumstances. His compassions never fail; they are new every morning.
How can we recognize these fresh mercies each day? Anytime your heart opens just a little—whether through a laugh, a conversation with a stranger, a small blessing, or doing something that brings you joy—take note. Those are the moments God is saying, ‘See, it will get better. Great is my faithfulness to you.’
