When Life Leaves You Broken, God Leans In To Pick Up The Pieces

By

It is in our darkest moments where God truly reveals himself to us. Karin Hadadan, best-selling author of Beauty in the Stillness, writes to anyone struggling to heal right now, emphasizing that while He may feel far, God is near and working hard to heal your anguish.

Whenever we experience immense suffering, grief, heartbreak, or emotional pain, our souls get crushed—we are emotionally devastated by what we are experiencing. Oftentimes, we question why God could allow such terror in our lives, believing that God is distant if He’s allowing these things to unfold and leaving us in this broken state.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed
in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

But it is in our brokenness that God quietly, yet intentionally, comes and holds our hands. This becomes a moment of divine encounter that marks a pivotal point in our relationship with Him.

When we are crushed in spirit, that is precisely when God saves us—from leaning solely on ourselves, from believing we must go through it alone, from thinking we will never heal or don’t have enough strength. God is not just promising His presence, but also His salvation and deliverance, because if God led you to it, He will lead you through it. And when you walk out on the other side, not only will your heart mend, but you’ll find your hands are still holding His as you continue walking ahead.

Heartbreak can make the world feel small and dark, leaving us unable to see a way forward. Yet even in the midst of deep pain, God draws near to the brokenhearted, offering comfort and strength when everything feels lost. In our weakest moments, His presence becomes the steady ground beneath us—the quiet assurance that healing is possible.

Though wounds take time to mend, God is always at work restoring what has been crushed and renewing what feels beyond repair. Choosing to seek Him through grief transforms pain into an invitation for closeness, reminding us that His compassion runs deepest in our darkest hours. When we can’t hold ourselves together, God gently begins the work of doing it for us.
