4 Upcoming Steamy + Romantic TV Shows To Fill The Void ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Left In Your Heart

By

Does anyone else miss The Summer I Turned Pretty? Okay, who am I kidding—I know you do. I did not spend 2+ months watching the internet go absolutely feral over this show to pretend like I don’t know how everyone else feels: like there’s a spark missing from each week now that we don’t have new Conrad Fisher content to light up our screen.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of those shows with the rare quality to grab you and keep you hooked, and it’s one of those things that rewatching your favorite TV shows (or, yes, even rewatching TSITP itself) can’t replace. We’re hungry for new content to keep us binging—but have no fear. There are quite a few TV shows ready to feed us the content we’re ravenous for.

Nobody Wants This

Remember when Nobody Wants This was THE TV show? It’s been a hot minute now, but there was once a time when Adam Brody was the Internet’s Boyfriend, and he’s been quietly waiting in the wings to make his comeback.

This romcom is about a (hot!!!) Jewish rabbi who falls in love with an atheist sex podcaster, and yes, it’s as complicated as it sounds. But it’s also quite simple: They’re obsessed with each other, even when there are plenty of reasons why they shouldn’t be. (Sound familiar, Team Conrad?)

Brody really is perfect at playing a dream boyfriend, as fans of The O.C. recall fondly, and Kristen Bell plays fun and avoidant in a way most of us can at least somewhat relate to. We’re sure Season Two will bring on the relationship drama we crave—while also giving us a leading man to root for (and wish we could have).

Nobody Wants This season 2 comes out on October 23.

Maxton Hall

Is anyone else watching Maxton Hall? Let me rephrase that: You absolutely should be watching Maxton Hall, especially if you’re a TSITP enthusiast. Don’t let the fact that it’s German scare you off—this Prime Video original will have you absolutely foaming at the mouth.

Maxton Hall revolves around scholarship student Ruby Bell and wealthy CEO-to-be James Beaufort. The two can’t stand each other at first, but as all great enemies-to-lovers stories go, the tension between them is almost palpable, and they realize their obsession with each other might not be as antagonistic as they once thought.

This show is really for the romance lovers (and the BookTok enthusiasts) because it hits all the right notes: there is tension, there is yearning, and, almost impossibly, there is love—the kind that feels life-changing. But do Ruby and James actually work in the real world? That’s what we’re going to find out.

Maxton Hall season 2 premieres on November 7.

Emily In Paris

At this point, we probably all know what Emily in Paris is—this Lily Collins-led show about an American woman who moves to France for a job is pretty hard to avoid. It’s a pop culture phenomenon for a reason, because while it’s not always good, it has a way of keeping us watching.

Perhaps the most compelling part of the show is the love plotlines, in which Emily has quite a few, but none as all-consuming and addicting as her will-they-won’t-they dynamic with hot chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). And much like The Summer I Turned Pretty, Emily in Paris loves a love triangle. There’s plenty of drama to connect with here, and even more in the upcoming season as she takes a chance in Rome. At least we won’t have to listen to her butcher the French language anymore!

Emily in Paris season 5 will release on December 18.

XO, Kitty

If you’re going through The Summer I Turned Pretty withdrawal, why not return to the genius herself? Creator Jenny Han gave us the iconic To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, as well as its lesser-known spinoff: XO, Kitty.

XO, Kitty follows Lara Jean’s younger sister, Kitty (Anna Cathcart), who decides to go on a journey to find true love—and goes all the way to South Korea. In the process, she certainly does find some potential suitors, but much like Belly, she also finds something even more important during her travels: Herself.

XO, Kitty will return in January 2026.
