A Loaf Of Bread Was The Star Of The Taylor Swift Movie
Expect to sing "His love was thе key that opened my skies" instead of "His love was thе key that opened my thighs."
This weekend Taylor Swift promoted the release of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, with a “film event” called Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. The 89-minute feature is a combination album release party, fan gathering and music video screening. It is Swift’s second theatrical release, after Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

So, what is Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl all about? This is not an elaborate concert movie like Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. It’s a few interviews, one music video, some behind-the-scenes footage (mostly from making The Fate of Ophelia music video) and 11 lyric slideshows for the music video-less songs from Swift’s new album. For the younger audiences (my screening was packed with little girls in sparkly dresses dancing their hearts out), the clean version of the album song’s played. Expect to sing, for instance, “His love was thе key that opened my skies” instead of “His love was thе key that opened my thighs.”
Is there any new material in Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl all about? Sadly, no. The twelve songs from The Life of a Showgirl album are all that’s included in the film event.
Is the Taylor Swift movie worth checking out? It depends. There’s nothing included in the film event that you won’t see elsewhere. The Fate of Ophelia music video debuts later this weekend. The interviews included in the film have been playing all day on Taylor’s Sirius station, so hardcore Swifties have probably already heard them. However, it’s still cool to be in a room full of fans
The most fun moment to experience with all the Swifties came early in the presentation when Taylor shared one of the many glimpses into her direction of The Fate of Ophelia music video. In one scene, Taylor was shown geeking out when she realized she could include one of her beloved sourdough loaves as a prop. The masterfully prepared loaf of bread was actually quite something to behold, and it was cute how proud our girl was of her work.
Earlier on Friday, Oct. 3 Taylor showed off her sourdough baking skills when she presented one of her loaves to BBC Radio 1 interview host Greg James. She hinted at what fans would soon learn in the film in a note to the host which included the pun “The Fate of Dough-phelia”. Taylor also decorated the bread bag with cat stickers.

If you missed out on Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, don’t worry. Her music video for The Fate of Ophelia will be released on Sunday, Oct. 5. There’s a countdown on Swift’s YouTube page here.
