The Radical Truth About God’s Love

By

Karin Hadadan, author of Beauty In Stillness, explains how Scripture tells us how unconditional God’s love really is.

Most of us spend our lives trying to earn love—through performance, perfection, or constant striving. But Scripture tells a different story:

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” — 1 John 4:10

God’s love is radical because it starts with Him, not us. It is unconditional, initiating, and sacrificial. We don’t have to earn it. We don’t have to prove ourselves worthy. His love simply is—unchanging, unearned, and freely given.

When we finally stop trying to love God first and instead receive His love, everything shifts. We learn what authentic love looks like—patient, unconditional, and self-giving. We begin to recognize when relationships are manipulative or conditional, and we refuse to settle for less than what God already shows us daily.

Receiving His love first transforms how we approach friendships, family, romance, and even how we treat ourselves. Love is no longer about performance—it’s about resting in the security that you are already fully, deeply loved.

That’s the radical nature of God’s love: it acts first, heals what’s broken, and empowers us to love others from a place of abundance rather than striving.
