You Don’t Have To Earn God’s Love

Rebecca Simon has a message for us about the eterneal and unconditional nature of God’s love.

So much of your life has taught you this lie: love must be earned.

For many of us, that belief began in childhood, or through relationships where affection was conditional — given only when you performed, proved yourself, or stood out. Over time, you equated love with effort. You convinced yourself that you had to be less needy, less emotional, less human to deserve gentleness.

But God is not like the people who withheld softness until you met their expectations. He does not ration compassion based on how well you’re holding it all together. His tenderness is not something you earn — it’s something you inherit.

His heart does not close when you falter. He is not disoriented by your exhaustion, nor distant in your need. He is not waiting for you to become more put-together before He calls you close. His nature is grace. His default is love.

The world celebrates independence and strength. God honors surrender. The most courageous thing you can do is come as you are: unsure, undone, unfinished — and let Him meet you there.

A prayer for gentle souls learning to realize God’s love is unconditional.

There is a tenderness your soul was made for. A softness that does not shame your humanity or discount your becoming, but gently restores it. You do not have to hide. You do not have to prove. You do not have to earn what He has been ready to give you all along. All you have to do is reach — and watch Him reach back.
