Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter / Crunchyroll

What To Watch On June 28, 2025: Two New Anime Shows On Crunchyroll

By

It’s a sunny summer Saturday, and while you may be spending the day by the beach, cool down with something fun to watch tonight.

If you’re a fan of anime or you want to check it out for the very first time, there are two new shows debuting today on the Crunchyroll streaming service. Plus, we’re talking about an ’80s rom com you may have never heard of but totally need to watch.

Takopi’s Original Sin and Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter now on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll, the largest streaming service when it comes to anime, has to new shows coming out today.

Takopi’s Original Sin

Based on the web manga, Takopi’s Orginal Sin is about Nnu-Anu-Kf, an octopus-like alien Happy Planet as he journeys to Earth to share joy. After crash-landing and eluding federal agents, he befriends bullied nine-year-old Shizuka. Does it sounds a bit like an anime version of Lilo & Stitch? Sure, but that’s fine with us.

Crunchyroll

Based on the Japanese light novels, Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter follows Allen, a fledgling magic-user who agrees to tutor the Duke’s daughter after he fails the sorcerer’s exam. It promises to be cute, sweet, and magical–perfect for those who love YA.

Secret Admirer is the friends-to-lovers rom com you might have missed

Orion Pictures

There are some classic romantic comedies from the 1980s that everyone talks about. Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Some Kind of Wonderful. Basically anything by John Hughes. But there may be one that you’ve never heard of: Secret Admirer. Starring C. Thomas Howell post-Outsiders, Lori Loughlin pre-scandal, and Kelly Preston pre-Travolta in a hilarious teen comedy where someone writes a secret admirer letter that everyone assumes is about them. I promise you’ll have a good time.

What we’re talking about

Have you seen Jeff Goldblum in Cronenberg’s The Fly? Only watch it if you have a solid stomach.
