I love a strong woman. That’s it, that’s the article.

Just kidding, but it’s true and it warms my heart to see more women getting representation in television and providing them with strong while also still emotional and vulnerable characters. We all know that women are multifaceted and deal with so much on a daily basis, so getting to watch someone we relate to on screen is a dream come true. If you’re looking for some shows to watch that feature a strong woman at the forefront, keep reading and take notes on which to add to your watch list.

The Morning Show

Apple TV+

Streaming on Apple TV+, The Morning Show stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as they tackle the world of a morning news show. The two face many battles of sexism, sexual harassment, and power dynamics while trying to grow their careers and elevate themselves up in what is traditionally a male-dominated field. The show is especially important after the #MeToo movement sparked a call to action in the celebrity-world.

Pose

Hulu

Pose is set in the 1980s and follows Blanca as she creates a home for rejected LGBTQ youth. This home provides housing and support for those who feel like they have none and gives them a space to grow and flourish. The show is all about dancing, expressing yourself, and dealing with the complexities of being yourself in what is sometimes an unauthentic world. It tells the story of New York City’s ball culture, highlighting the gay and trans community. Pose is streaming on Hulu.

A League Of Their Own

This TV show reimagines the 1992 classic of the same name and provides a more inclusive spin to it. A League of Their Own explores the experiences of a women’s baseball team during World War II. However, the story doesn’t only follow baseball. The show covers larger issues like racism, sexism, and the struggle of being LGBTQ in a very non-inclusive climate. The show brings to light intersectional issues and gives a voice to the voiceless during this time era. A League of Their Own is streaming on Prime Video.

Grace & Frankie

Netflix

Grace & Frankie is so heartwarming and pure and stars the greats, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Two lifelong best friends have their lives totally turned upside down while they’re in their 70s. Their husbands reveal they are gay and in love with each other. Now Grace and Frankie must figure out how to navigate life without the person they thought would be there forever and find their new self-appointed family. The message is that it’s never too late to start over and that life doesn’t end once you reach a certain age. Grace & Frankie is streaming on Netflix.
