All 5 ‘Twilight’ Movies, Ranked From Worst To Best
By Nina Sterle
5: Twilight: New Moon

There are a few golden moments from New Moon. Not only do we get the much-touted character arc for Bella after Edward leaves her (there is most definitely a possibility), we also get to see the characters escape to Italy for a dramatic fifteen minutes. Bella and Edward’s reunion (and subsequent battle with the vampires) almost makes up for the rest of the movie, but not quite. Not only do we have to deal with Edward not being there for most of the movie, we also have to slog through basic miscommunications and awkward writing. So much happens throughout the film just for nothing to really go anywhere at all.
4: Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 1

This movie was rough. Not only is it basically an hour-long highlight (read: lowlight) reel of Bella’s pregnancy, nothing much happens during the film, either. That’s probably because the third and fourth movie really could have been combined into one if the filmmakers had wanted to. Unfortunately, that reality doesn’t exist for us, so we were left with a part one that drags out way too long. There aren’t any substantial moments to the plot – it’s fun seeing Bella and Edward enjoy their honeymoon, but the second half of the movie drags on impossibly long. The very end is where things really start to get good – but of course, most of that is left to the final Twilight film.
3: Twilight: Eclipse

While some of Eclipse is interesting, a lot of it feels very forgettable. We continue the slightly bland and also highly irritating love triangle between Bella, Jacob, and Edward. This movie ranks a little higher on the list because we do at least get to enjoy some additional vampire lore – and travel all the way up to Seattle to see new vampires forming a secret cult – but the ending is incredibly anticlimactic, and tri-movie villain Victoria dies with a whimper at the very end. What a letdown.
2: Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2

Breaking Dawn redeems itself by the end of the second part. For what Part 1 lacked, Part 2 (almost) makes up for; we get a solid resolution to the series’ arc and even get to see a hint at what the future holds for much of the cast. Plus, we get to see a lot more action throughout the film, and there are arguably more lore drops during the final movie than we get during the rest of the series (who doesn’t love a good Rami Malek cameo?). There’s really no beating the battle scene at the end of the film, either, which probably still haunts anyone who saw it in theaters to this day.
1: Twilight

It’s probably not much of a surprise to see the original Twilight movie at the very top of this list. Not only is it a certified cult classic movie, it also just has a (vampirical) magic to it that’s hard to beat. The other three movies in the series fall far out of line with the typical high school romance that created so much charm within the world of the first Twilight movie; while it’s interesting to see where the cast goes after graduation, there’s really nothing like a little cringey teen romance for a cozy autumn comfort movie.
