Bachelor Nation was shocked by the sudden news of Season 25’s Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s split after four years of dating. Two weeks after James broke the news on Instagram, Kirkconnell sat down with Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper to tell her side of the story.

Here are the three biggest revelations from Kirkconnell’s CAD interview.

1. James posted news of their breakup on Instagram…THREE HOURS after they broke up.

A mere three hours after James broke up with Rachel during the trip to Tokyo, he announced their split on Instagram. Rachel had not yet had the chance to tell her loved ones about their breakup, but she actually received texts from friends asking about the breakup due to the post about when she was about to fly back to the States. Those texts were how she found out about the post in the first place.

2. Kirkconnell thought they were on the same page about marriage and starting a family.

“I guess our third year of dating was when I started to just ask like okay so where is this going,” Kirkconnell shared. She went on to explain that she never wanted a “timeline of things” or to know when he planned to pop the question; she wanted to be “shocked” by a proposal.

Cooper then asked Kirkconnell his reaction to her inquiries to which Kirkconnell began to tear up and admit she thought they were on “the same page.”

“It’s just confusing to look back on now because when we would talk about things he always seemed like he was on the same page, privately and publicly,” Kirkconnell said, sharing that he showed that energy during interviews or replying to people in the comments.

“I guess it’s just hard to think about, it’s just one of those things that you replay a lot over and over again because the words were there and you know us talking about taking the next steps, all of that was fine, but you know the actions obviously weren’t there.”

3. Rachael was constantly apologizing for things that weren’t her fault.

Kirkconnell said she and James didn’t argue a lot but fights did happen when they happened to annoy one another. However, it always ended up that Kirkconnell was the one to apologize, even when she was the one who was hurt.

“This is what’s crazy, I feel like I was apologizing a lot, even if I was the one that was mad about something. We would sit down and I’d be like I’m annoyed about this and then at the end of the conversation, I would be the one that would be saying sorry. I started feeling crazy. But at the end of the relationship, he basically said that I have a hard time taking accountability and apologizing and I’m sitting here, I’m like, I’m going crazy because I feel like I do say sorry a lot for things that I’m not even sure what I’m saying sorry for.”
