A season finale is the last episode of a particular season, while a series finale is the final episode of the entire show, marking its end. The definitive end. So here are four of the best shows that will leave us forever in 2025.

Let’s enjoy them while we still can.

Stranger Things

As Stranger Things enters its highly anticipated fifth and final season, fans are bracing for an emotional and action-packed conclusion to the beloved series. Season 4 left viewers on the edge of their seats with a dramatic cliffhanger: the Upside Down was no longer a parallel world—it had begun to merge with Hawkins itself. The gang’s battle against Vecna escalated to new heights, revealing the terrifying truth that their fight was far from over.

For the final chapter, the story circles back to where it all began: Hawkins, Indiana. The Duffer Brothers have hinted that the season will dive deeper into the haunting origins of the Upside Down, unraveling the mysteries that have loomed since the very first episode. Packed with emotional reunions, nail-biting battles, and the signature blend of horror and heart, Season 5 promises to deliver the unforgettable moments that have made Stranger Things a global phenomenon. Fans can look forward to one last wild ride into the Upside Down.

Squid Game

After the heart pounding and unforgettable ending of Squid Game Season 2, fans are eagerly awaiting what comes next in the highly anticipated third season. Season 2 concluded with an explosive twist: Gi-hun, having narrowly escaped the deadly competition’s games again, aims at defeating the pink guards and The Front Man. He is then betrayed by player 001 and now all hope seems lost.

Details about Season 3 remain scarce. But creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has offered intriguing hints. In an interview he has said “I wrote Seasons 2 and 3 at the same time… and along the storyline, there is a turning point that takes place, and that leads to a series of different events, and also leads to a significant change in the character,” Hwang said. “Relatively speaking, the ending for Season 2 came to me quite early on. However, the ending to Season 3, actually ended up [in] a different direction than what I had initially conceived of. While I was working on the story and working on the script, I saw this new path that I wanted to go down, and so the ending of Season 3 actually changed in the process of creating Season 2.”

Adding to the buzz, rumors swirled after Netflix Korea seemingly leaked the release date for Season 3 in a now-deleted video, claiming it will premiere on July 27, 2025. Fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but one thing is certain: the stakes have never been higher.

You

Joe Goldberg’s bloody, twisted tale is finally coming to an end as You returns for its fifth and final season. Bringing the story full circle, Joe heads back to New York City, the place where his dark obsession began, but this time with even more power and fewer moral boundaries.

Season 4 left audiences reeling as Joe embraced his true nature, returning to the city alongside his wealthy partner Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and armed with a dangerous new sense of power. For the first time, Joe seems fully aware—and disturbingly accepting—of his dark ways.  Adding to the intrigue, Penn Badgley, who has masterfully portrayed the chillingly charismatic antihero, hinted that a familiar face from a past season could make a return.

While the release date remains under wraps, we’re eagerly awaiting the final chapter, which promises to be as shocking and unforgettable as the journey that brought us here.

A Handmaid’s Tale

The harrowing journey of The Handmaid’s Tale is reaching its climactic conclusion as the series returns for its sixth and final season. Since its debut, the show has captivated audiences with its portrayal of Gilead’s oppressive regime and the unyielding resilience of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss). Over five seasons, June has evolved from a silenced victim into a relentless force of resistance.

“It’s pretty wild, the final season, honestly,” Moss shared with TVLINE. “It definitely has final-season energy. It’s big and wild, and goes to many different places, and it is very, very surprising all the way through.”Season 6 promises a deeply emotional conclusion to this dystopian drama. While an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, the official Handmaid’s Tale Instagram has announced it will premiere this spring.
