Though so much happens in the 12 seasons of Bones, these five moments can't help but stick with you.
Though so much happens in the 12 seasons of Bones, these five moments can’t help but stick with you.
It’s been seven years since the police and forensic bone-ology show Bones ended, yet there are some moments from the show that just stick with me all these years later. Moments that surprised me, moments that shook me to my core, and even a super sweet moment that broke the mold. And if my TikTok FYP is any indication, I’m not the only one thinking about this show lately. Scene after scene is flooding my feed and it made me wonder…what moments from Bones are the most iconic? These are the most memorable moments from Bones.
The End of Sweets
Ask anyone what the most heartbreaking death on a TV show was and they’ll likely have the death of Sweets at the top of their list. Sweets came in mid-series as a therapist tasked with making sure Booth and Bones work well together. He quickly became a regular and a best friend to both main characters. So when he suddenly gets shot at the beginning of season 10, it’s especially heartbreaking–especially considering that he never gets to meet his unborn child. If you didn’t cry at this one, you’re a monster.
Zack Addy’s Betrayal
This moment was such a surprise, you never saw it coming. After a long battle against a cannibalistic killer, it’s revealed at the end of season 3 that Zack Addy, the adorable and naïve student working under Bones and best friends with Hodgins, had been working with The Gormogon. He’d been convinced to work against the team at the Jeffersonian, which was the ultimate shock. It’s apt that they named this episode “The Pain in the Heart” because that’s exactly what it was.
The Sudden Death of Vincent Nigel-Murray
After Zack Addy left the show, they had to find a new intern to take his place, which brought in a slew of new characters into the Jeffersonian. Vincent Nigel-Murray was a fun addition. He was British, he was silly, and he had a good heart. So when he was very suddenly shot in the middle of the lab by a sniper, it made his death all the more devastating.
The Burial Episode
When you’re solving murders by looking at bones, you’re going to wind up in a plethora of dangerous situations. No danger hooked into my soul like what happened in “Aliens in a Spaceship.” Season 2, Episode 9 finds the team confronting a truly diabolical serial killer, The Gravedigger. Unfortunately Bones and Hodgins find themselves victims when they wake up inside a car buried under a mountain of dirt and rocks. Even if you aren’t afraid of being buried alive, this one will likely still stick with you.
The Shocking Pregnancy Reveal
Not all the memorable moments from Bones are devastating. Case in point, the ending to season six. After hints here and there that Booth and Brennan love each other, and that they may have actually acted on it, the show skipped all the fluff and shocked the audience by suddenly revealing that Brennan is pregnant with Booth’s baby. Many fans were upset that the show finally got them together this way, feeling it was rushed and only done because Emily Deschanel was pregnant in real life. I’m not one of them. In basically any other TV show, we have to endure a long, slow burn for the main characters to get together, if at all. It was a fun twist that they did it behind the scenes. It changed how shows can do romance going forward.
