A24 Has Released The First Trailer For ‘We Live in Time’ (And It Will Make You Ugly Cry)
You know it's going to be real a tearjerker when the film's trailer has you sobbing.
Sometimes, love hits you when you least expect it, which is literally what happens to Tobias (Andrew Garfield) and Almut (Florence Pugh) in the upcoming romantic drama We Live in Time. Literally, as in, Almut accidentally hits Tobias with her car. Talk about a meet cute!
Directed by John Crowley, the screenplay by Nick Payne, We Live in Time shows snapshots of Tobias and Almut’s life together over the years, from their serendipitous first encounter to falling in love, building a home, and having their daughter.
However, Almut and Tobias’ love story hits a major bump in the road once Almut is diagnosed with a serious illness. The couple is then forced to face the cruel reality of time–it moves forward, no matter what, and all we can do is live in the moments that we are given. As Tobias laments in one clip, “I’m guilty of looking ahead instead of right in front of me.”
We Live in Time looks to be a very human story filled with love, humor, sadness, vulnerability, and everything in between. And if the trailer is any inclination, it will move you to the point of tears.
But don’t take my word for it; watch the trailer below:
We Live in Time will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2024, followed by a limited theater release starting October 11th, 2024.
