Make 2018 The Year Of Pursuit

By

Make this year the year you finally go—after what you want, in the direction of your dreams, along the road that leads you to what matters the most. Each year we start with such high expectations. We make plans, create goals, and step confidently forward. Then life gets in the way. We get wrapped up in our failures. We get distracted by other ideas. We find ourselves spending way too much time doing meaningless things, or surrounding ourselves with people we’re familiar with, rather than pushing outside of the norm. And then time passes and we find ourselves back where we started, still in the same place.

But this year, break that cycle.

Don’t look at the next 365 days with last year’s mistakes already clouding your vision. Don’t assume that the decisions you’ve made have to shape where you go next. Don’t waste precious energy defeating yourself. Instead, stand bold and tell yourself that you can, that you will.

Make this the year you finally make a change—one that you want for yourself, one that makes you a stronger person, one that you feel, in your heart, is what you need to do. And whether that’s learning to love your reflection, walking into that gym after years, cutting out those unhealthy snacks, quitting drinking, letting go of toxic people, or making art again, do it this year, with all the confidence and strength you have.

Make this the year you finally say goodbye—to every doubt in your mind, to the people who don’t believe in you, to all the distractions that keep you from your dreams. You’ve been ruled, for so long, by everything external. Look within, for a change, and trust the sound of your voice, the pitter-patter of your heartbeat.

Make this year the year you bring forth positive energy—not cling to the old, wishing for something new; not losing yourself in the mix of everyone else’s perspectives. You are the only one who can define how this next year goes. You can choose to hold onto what was or you can believe in something greater, believe in yourself. And shine.

Make this the year of faith—in God, in yourself, in the people who have been there for you since day one. Instead of doubting every step, trust that there is a bigger plan for you. Instead of thinking you’re not capable, not worthy, know that you are and have always been. Instead of looking everywhere for guidance, look up to your Father or around at the people who love you. They’ve got your back. You will be okay.

Make this year the year of pursuit—of your passions, of real love, of confidence and health and happiness, however that manifests itself in your life. Pursue what makes your heart burn. Pursue the people and things that make you feel alive. Pursue the dreams that have been inside you for so long. Pursue all that you’ve felt inadequate to have, or unable to pursue in the past. This is your year. Live it.
