This Is What Heartbreak Feels Like

This is what heartbreak feels like.

It’s waking up in the morning to an empty phone inbox. There is no longer a ‘Good morning love!’ waiting for you.

It’s having a bad day and not having someone to complain about it to.

It’s thinking of something you want to do and remembering that they are no longer around to plan dates with.

It’s going to places you visited together and trying so hard to not let the memories overwhelm your heart.

It’s having a knot in your throat all the time but not knowing how to get rid of it.

It’s having every single thing remind you of your beloved. From the color of the car they drive or the songs you used to listen to together.

It’s wanting to share good news with them but not being able to out of fear of looking stupid for reaching out to them again.

It’s mustering up the courage to not respond to their Snapchat because you know that it won’t do you any good.

It’s ending a perfect day with a good cry because you know that they’re no longer there to talk about it.

It’s trying so hard not to break down at random times of the day simply because you miss them.

It’s having to play it off when your family members ask you about them, as if they can’t tell that you are completely destroyed.

It’s taking showers in the middle of the day or middle of the night simply because you need a good cry and because you cannot bear to have your mother listen to her little girl sob anymore.

It’s having to write it all down because you feel like the people around you have heard enough about the same topic and the same person.

It’s having to find something new to keep you busy every day because you know that if you don’t have anything to do, you will just become a prisoner to your sadness.

It’s replaying everything in your head with the hopes that you will find out where it all went wrong.

It’s having to get used to the idea that sooner or later, they will find someone else and that someone will not be you.

It’s waking up and having to do it all over again, every day.

This is what heartbreak feels like. TC mark
