You Are Probably Not Thinking Big Enough

By

You can achieve anything if you want it bad enough. It will definitely not be easy but it’s not impossible. Great discoveries often evolve as slow hunches, maturing and connecting to other ideas over time. Don’t kill your hunches, grow them.

A more richer and exciting life is within your grasp if you can visualise and focus on thinking and most importantly acting on your thoughts.

Fitting in is a failure. Not standing out is the same as being invisible.

If you pursue your dreams long enough, compounding takes effect. Momentum will surge. Dreams are all we have. Never give up on them.

Whatever you dream or believe you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

A single thought can grow over time into a powerful habit of thinking big, and eventually takes over your personal psychology and propels you to achieve your dreams.

This process can help you move beyond your comfort zone. And you will be surprised at what you can do with a thought process like that.

We’ve been conditioned to think small, simplify and to expect less and demand less from life. Don’t be subject to the tyranny of “how things have always been done”. Find your true north and push past the default.

We’ve been taught that we should be happy and thankful with what we have and that there are many others less fortunate than ourselves.

For centuries we’ve been trained by the system to stop thinking and do as we are told. But dreamers and thinkers change the world. Thinkers and dreamers are the new untouchables. They don’t follow any logic. It’s hard to replace the dreamers with algorithms.

Why limit yourself when you can. Why give in to negative thoughts when you are more than capable. Give yourself permission to think and act beyond the ordinary.

Choose to do your most amazing work without anyone’s approval. Choose yourself today! Decide what you want or someone else will. You are the designer of your destiny. What will it be?

Step outside of yourself

You can only change your mindset if you begin to care about your thought process..everyday. Start thinking big about your daily projects and tasks. How can your work influence the people around you and the rest of the world?

Can you build something people will look for, will talk about or something we would miss if it were gone. Think about your capacity to think creatively and outside the box. And your your capacity to provide value to others. Start seeing things from a wider and far reaching perspective.

You should start thinking big without reservations or hesitation. You can only contribute more, learn more, become more and stretch yourself and your own abilities beyond their current psychological limitations if you give yourself permission to think beyond the obvious.

Nothing beats a curious mind

I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.
-Albert Einstein

How curious are you? Don’t take things on face value. Go deeper into how things work. Question most things.Assume nothing. Question everything.

Start the curious habit of questioning everyday things, products or services. Stretch your brains to get answers to questions you mostly ignore.

Never stop questioning. Curiosity has always been an important trait of a genius. A curious mind can relate and connect ideas better. Maintain an open mind and be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn.

Start shifting your perspective

Exercise your creative genius. Anything new to your brain can stimulate it. Different skills, ideas, cultures opinions can have a big and positive effect on your own views about the world. Change your thought pattern. Think from the perspective of having no limitations and no fears.

Fear sucks and cripples. Think about all the dreams that have not been realised because people are just afraid to share themselves with the world. Millions who feel their ideas are not worthy enough to be shared. Over the long term, the future is decided by optimists.

You alone can release your unlimited potential to develop the habit of thinking big, acting big, and doing bigger things than you ever thought were possible.

Give yourself time in your life to wonder what is possible and to make even the slightest moves in that direction. When you follow your own true north you create new opportunities, have different experiences and create a different life.

Barriers to thinking and acting big

Thinking big grows and develop over time but remember, no matter the difficulty, you can adapt to anything. Stretching your imaginations and expanding our personal potential may take time but it’s worth everyday of the rest of your life.

Stay away from negative thoughts that tell you how bad your ideas are. Work on minimising procrastination. Anything you want in life could take twice as long if you keep postponing your life’s work. Stop overanalysing things. It’s a waste of time and energy.

Focus on getting stuff done and getting results. Progress is the ultimate motivation. The real world rewards those who get things done, not the perfectionist, who shelves every project waiting for everything to fall in place. Just ship already.

Stop making excuses about your potential. Nobody is perfect. No situation is perfect. No time is right. But you have now. Make the most of the time you have this minute. Your goal should be progress, not perfection.

Your obstacles will guide you

If you have something significant to share with the rest of the world, prepare to face criticisms. People judge what they don’t understand or can’t comprehend.

Not everyone will see things the way you do. It’s okay if they don’t. You are not seeking approval. And not everyone will believe what you see, however this shouldn’t stop you from thinking and acting bigger to get closer to your life’s calling.

But what if I fail?

If you are not ready to risk the normal you can’t achieve the remarkable. Our fear of failure can make thinking big very difficult to do. Fear can constrict you and coil you into a ball of small thoughts, decisions and actions. You don’t want that.

Fear of failure is universal, experiencing it is inevitable, but it’s not fatal. You are not your failure. Don’t get stuck! The more new situations you expose yourself to, the more opportunities you have to discover unknown aptitudes. Failure is not sign of permanent trouble, but merely as a sidestep on the path to success.

Don’t stop showing up

Show up everyday and work on your most important life work. Whether the outcome is magnificent or eternal, whether it changes people’s lives, changes the world, changes you or groundbreaking, it matters that you show up. The magic eventually happens.

No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying. You don’t always need the perfect plan. Sometimes you just need to give it a try, let go, and see what happens.

Here are ten takeaways

1. Try something you have really never been done before.

2. Anyone who tells you it’s impossible to create something new in this world just isn’t thinking big enough.

3. Start embracing discomfort.

4. Don’t be subject to the tyranny of “how things have always been done”. Find your true north and push past the default.
