Introversion and extraversion is all about what takes energy to do and what gives you energy while doing. I’m a social person who naturally energizes when she’s alone – and, likewise, has to use energy to be around people. And, no, it’s not about just being tired after a fun night out. It’s a little more involved than that.

My ambivalent relationship to Facebook says more about the complicated nature of human relationships than it does about the platform that is meant to facilitate connection between people. The “like” and “block” functions are not the problem. Status updates and tags are not the issue.
An email pops into my inbox. A stale alert informs me a particularly active friend has, yet again, posted to a group we both belong to. I quickly jump windows on the screen, sighing and eye rolling, to perform the ritualistic set of clicks simply to get that annoying little blue-boxed 1 to go away from the left column of my Facebook homepage.
