“Not what will pay the most, but what will teach the most?” – Ryan Holiday
Think about it: buy the $8 book, let her buy the iced coffees, and you two can sit quietly reading somewhere. Followed by honest book reviewing and switching up favorites. What’s not to like?
“Yeah, but everyone in that book is a total asshole. Don’t get me wrong, LOVE it, but ALL assholes.”
Science fiction has been a source of imagination and possibilities since its beginnings. It’s true that reading makes us more empathetic, and if you want more than just a beach read, turning to science fiction is a great alternative.
I love working here, and I love reading what people write here even more.
“Flint, Michigan. Ugly, the water will kill you, and everyone’s on heroin.”
So here’s my recommendation: pick up at least one of these books before you head to school in August.
I read when I want to kill time. I read when I get stressed. I read when I’m angry. I read as my mom shouts at me for skipping meals and choosing books. I read in an attempt to slip away from the monotony of existence.
I wish there was a way to force everyone on the planet to read ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck’.
Whatever the occasion, there’s a book for us to pair with this summer.
