I tried to be the perfect Christian, and it turns out that God just needed me to be myself.
Remember when He said your name. When you heard His voice audibly and it absolutely shook your bones and satisfied your soul entirely.
Be an active Christian. Not a timid Christian. Not a passive Christian. Not a perfect Christian. But one who loves with everything you have because that is how our Father first loved us.
Being a Christian is not about making your life spotless, but rejoicing in the beautiful mess you were created to be. And doing your best to honor God in all your imperfection because you are His.
Love is my Christianity. Reaching out and hugging people, despite our differences, is my Christianity. Opening myself to new perspectives and beliefs and accepting them, even if they don’t coincide with my personal values, is my Christianity. Caring about other people and their hearts is my Christianity. Celebration is my Christianity.
Always believe God can use a messed up sinner like you to change the world
I’ve always been a driven, independent girl. I’ve gone after what I wanted, pursued my passions, and been incredibly happy accomplishing my goals and seeking the Lord. But as I’ve gotten older, it’s become clear to me that I’d rather spend my life pursuing goals with someone else than alone.
We have to create the good. We have to choose to respond in a way that brings good into an impossible situation. We have to choose to give purpose and meaning to our suffering.
You are loved in your light, in your dark, and in every shadow in-between
Know that you are loved. Know that you are strong. Know that you are beautiful and wonderful and complex and made by a God who will never leave or forsake you, no matter how much you push Him away.
