It’s the beginning of a new life that you’re not in. It’s the beginning of me not choosing you.
Choosing Your Love
This is me deciding to stop playing your game because I am worth more than this almost relationship that we’re entangled in.
Your 20s are for choosing self-love over yesterday, today, and tomorrow’s almost love.
Thank you for accepting me as I am, and constantly reminding me that I don’t have to change for your account; but, at the same time encouraging me to be a better, no, to be the best version of myself.
One-sided love is not love. It’s torture. It’s waiting for something that might never happen. It’s looking at someone who doesn’t see you. It’s thinking about someone day and night while you probably never cross their mind.
The second we stop choosing the person we love, again and again every day, we have already left them.
You will stay stuck in anger and judgment, and in feeling like a victim, as long as you make others responsible for whether or not you forgive yourself. Others’ forgiveness has nothing to do with your own decision to judge or forgive yourself.
Love is devotion, putting aside every other whim and desire of the world to say to the person you wish to spend forever with that you will, no matter the obstacle.
Looking back on it now, I was so blind. All I could see was you and the fact I wanted nothing more than to be with you. I ignored every red flag and every person’s warning.
I need you.
