Today, I am aware that I am black. No longer can I hide inside the race protectant bubble I unfortunately built for myself growing up. Today I am aware that, like many others who don’t fit the Trump “formula”, I am being watched more. Today I am fully aware of the horrifying racism and discriminatory hate trying to divide our country.

How can a society hope to achieve any semblance of equality while silently agreeing “bitch” is more offensive from Busta Rhymes than Elton John? From this nonchalant compliance stems the indignation towards Black Lives Matter protestors who would DARE disrupt a Bernie Sanders political rally or the Minnesota State Fair.
Black wealth needs to be consolidated and multiplied for the benefit of the black community. Instead of continuously pumping black income into white pockets, there needs to be a conscious effort by the black community to invest in their black neighbors and themselves.
