I Fell In Love This Summer

By

Summer has gone all too quickly.

I met so many unique individuals. Some of which I have become friends with. Other’s, personalities that will become someone I used to know. One of which who tested me. By remaining open and not retracting when I felt uncomfortable I gained insight, moments, laughter, confusion, clarity and connection that I couldn’t have imagined with humans had I not been open with, probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to know. I was reminded that amongst one bad experience there are far more positive experiences. Life passes by far too quickly to dwell on any negativity. It is easier to let it go. You can’t control someone else’s actions but you can control how you choose to react.

This summer reminded me how important it is to manage my time efficiently. How to push myself to make time for self-care with what little time I have available. How to continue to nourish my body from the inside out. How to take advantage of my weekends and make the most. Making time to connect with family, friends, strangers. Yes, strangers because sometimes those strangers become friends for life.

Make time for people who you can see growing from.

I fell in love this summer.

I fell in love with the glistening waters of the vast ocean. I fell in love with the texture of salty hair after a day of surfing. I fell in love with the motion of the tides as I swam inside them. I fell in love with a family setting up a tent outside of Hollywood Blvd. I fell in love with the fluidity of my body while practicing yoga. I can honestly say this summer was spent doing what I love; Making genuine connections, activism, nurturing friendships and surfing.

This summer was greater than me. Life is greater than me.
