Don’t Be Afraid To Let Go—God Will Catch You

By

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you have no other choice but to let it go past you. You might want to take control over the situation, but no matter how hard or how many times you try, life just doesn’t add up the way you want it to.

Over the years, I have learned to let go of what I can’t control, such as relationships, jobs, college, etc. That’s not to say that it gets any easier as time goes on, but God does equip me with the tools that I need in that season. Some seasons, I can get through the storm without hesitation, and other seasons, such as the one I’m currently in, I find it hard to get through a single day.

Last year, I was employed, dating someone new that I really liked, got a new home, and made some new friends. Life was great, with the exception of a few things, but I was enjoying life, and most importantly, my relationship with God was growing. Fast forward a few months to the present and I’m now unemployed, can hardly pay bills, my relationship ended, and I find myself in a state of depression and anxiety.

However, this doesn’t define me, nor do I let it overcome, because I know that this is a temporary season and I’ve been in these situations before. God will place you in situations that you’ve been before to see if you can navigate through it, and He won’t ever give you more or less than what you can handle. So I know that I’ll find work again in the film industry and I’ll be able to pay my bills, even if it may take awhile. As for my relationship, I sincerely love him and wish I could be with him. However, due to the circumstances that he has to be deployed overseas for three years, there’s nothing much that I can do about that. We could try long distance, but he fears it’ll be too challenging and wouldn’t be fair to me. I could insist on trying to make it work, but there’s only very few things I can actually control. I don’t know what’s going to happen—none of us do. Only God knows. But praying and accepting things as they are can help with going through your season.

We have to understand that we cannot rely on our own understanding, but rather put our entire trust and faith in Him. He will guide you through your cave, the storm, the battlefield, and lead you to where you need to be, because His plan is greater than your own. So let go. Let go of that job you don’t like. Let go of that person that is causing you pain. Let go of that friendship that is toxic. Let go of the addicting behaviors. Let go of the high expectations you have for yourself. Let go of that fear. Let go because you need to and you know that God will catch you and be right there with you.
